#12 Jonathon Patton - GWS Giants

Name: Jonathon Patton
Age: 20 years, 5 months
Team: Greater Western Sydney
Position: Forward
Bye: Round 9

2013 Low: 26 (red vest), 63
2013 High: 79
2013 Average: 56
2013 unsubbed average: 71
2013 Pre-Bye Average: 56
2013 Post-Bye Average: N/A

Fanplanner Price: $209,700

Predicted average: 70

Verdict: Very hard to gauge what Patton will average this year, It's his 3rd year in the system now and he's only played 10 career games, At 209k he'd be an awkward guy to start with but certainly not irrelevant, I'm hoping we see an injury free Patton in 2014 as i'm sure we're all fairly keen to see what he can do.

Dayze

Very tough bouncing back from an ACL. Not everybody is Lenny Hayes.
If he is supercoach relevant next year then we are obviously super desperate in our forward lines

My Chumps

Unfortunately not this year for J Pat. Key forwards just take too long to develop, especially a bloke of this size.

For example, Travis Cloke was shower with a top average of 79 until he turned 23 in 2010 and averaged 90.

I do expect him to improve, but not enough to be a keeper or a significant cash cow. Who knows how GWS will rotate Boyd, Cameron and Patton too?

Ricochet

For < 200k I would probably prefer Michie, Hogan, Fasolo, Karnezis over Patton. Just no room for him at this stage

Holz

kind of depends what strategy your going as Ric said there are bettter players. However the question really should be do you go for sharenberg + 50k or patton.

with that option I like patton, definately one to monitor will see what role he gets, he needs to go 70+ for it to be worth it. Not sure he can do that.

im thinking that Boyd and Cameron to be the main targets, if he goes back I think he could be a good pick up as a third option up front you cant go him.

look at guys like hansen, watts, day et... struggle up front than move down back and post good FF scores.

Patton is not the same sort of player as Hansen and Watts though. Patton is a monster key position player. He's not gonna float around the back line by himself getting cheap kicks and intercept marks.

I agree, I can't see Patton playing down back.

the same thing was said about hansen and watts when they were first drafted.

patton and hansen are bascially the same size, watts is the same height but abit smaller.

scott thompson is a KPP and he gets alot of intercept marks

agreed he should play forward but Boyd Cameron Patton up front is overkill. especially considering i think they will play giles up front with mummy in the ruck as the 1-2 combo.

Yeah I know what you mean but Patton is just different to those guys. He's just a huge bloke and plays in that old fashioned centre half forward style. Let's be honest, Watts and Hansen only got shifted because they couldn't get a kick forward.
I think it would be a terrible waste for Patton to play back. They obviously have a very unique situation on their hands though. As blizzare as it sounds, Cameron is actually the one that would be most suited to a move down back

Patton is too Much of a Risk prefer someone like Michie if named as a Fwd or even Hogan.

Hogan needs to be picked, he is ready to go and rookie priced. probably wont be a big scorer but for his price he will definately be worth it.

Martin and Hogan my first picked players in my squad, even before pendles etc...

Anybody else think Patton is wearing a ridiculous amount of fake tan? Look at his forehead! :o

_wato

He's always been like that I think, but that is hilarious hahahha :')
