yet you need to bite your tongue TBag cause you are fighting a landslide of criticism that you will not be able to combat

Stop just spewing crap for the sake of spewing crap.

Tbag, you clearly don't get Sydney. AFL is like a 4th sport, after Soccer, Rugby and League. Of course there won't be big crowds.

Toga

I see what you're saying tbag (kind of) in that ideally those mini draft picks should have been traded for experienced guns but idk if it's GWS' fault, seems like no one wanted to give players for them.. Wouldn't call it cheating :-X

thats true, its why there should be no GWS team.

no clue why they didnt go to Tasmania, a state that actually likes AFL and is desperate for a team.

Ziplock

a state that has a population that's 6% the size of nsw?

You guys really have to stop fighting. Tbag, you are asking for it the way you are not even trying to listen to other's opinions even though they have pretty much even said my opinion. While the rest of you are just bashing him since he isn't listening. I'd say he's almost even trolling with his view since he doesn't want to listen to reason or anybody else's point of view. This is why I'm putting a stop to this topic.

Trading the mini draft picks the idiot boss intended for the Giants to trade for players, they took the high first round picks for

Clearly the GWS were not trying to be competitive last year, let alone 2012, that is tanking ;)

I ask one question, how were the crowds in Western Sydney? Worse than any other AFL club in history?

Maybe they could have traded for players that made they more competitive? Hence a bigger crowd?

Hmmmmm

FYY Mail man, that is crap, read my comments again

tbag you are the first person I have ever heard with this argument... I mean what is there to complain about.

Nobody expected to GWS to get crowds - they are based in an area where AFL is the third sport behind Soccer and then Rugby. GWS average around 15k crowds per game, which is a win in my eyes and when they hit their prime they will pull some more, along with being more established in Sydney.

The lowest crowd in AFL history since 1997 is GWS against... guess who... Adelaide!  ;D
GWS is pretty much Rugby territory, AFL is expanding into new areas (with Gold Coast as well). Of course it'll take years, perhaps even decades to get the crowds up to the levels it is interstate (probably not to the level of the big Vic clubs). So using that as an excuse to get "mature" players is pretty bad unless it's a star ala Gary Ablett at Suns.

Players have to agree to move to GWS, where most mature players are settled in at a club if they are playing consistently at the top level. Nobody expected GWs to grab old old players but they did with Chad Cornes, Dean Brogan and probably another few to mentor the kids, they aren't going to be around 3+ years down the track so saying that they made much difference for on field results wouldn't be great. Suns grabbed more mature age players and look what happened to them, alot of them didn't perform as well, mediocre even so better to raise the youngsters. GWs grabbed young guys like Phil Davis, Tom Scully, Jonathan Giles and Tim Mohr (off the top of my head) who what you Tbag consider "mature age" players but you still would say they are too young! Despite them being in their early 20's, what you just called Demons good for getting Michie, you'll say that GWS did wrong recruiting youngsters who play AFL footy.

Just saying I know where you're coming from Tbag, but you have to understand recruiting nothing more than lower level AFL players would do nothing for the team long term. Getting these youngsters and growing them will help the team in the future and actually build a fan base and players fan can follow from the start of their career, rather than recycling old players (other than for mentors). They certainly could have recruited more AFL/mature players, but who would want to go to a start up club and leave their home for Western Sydney? So can't all be blamed on the recruiters as the players have to actually be willing to play for them. They made a big play for Buddy which everybody would say awesome, but he preferred Sydney over GWS, so GWs miss out on players who just prefer other places.

People just need to learn not to resort to childish insults and saying stuff like "stop spewing crap" or "Let me know when I am supposed to care?" when you CHOOSE to respond in the thread or CHOOSE to start a topic knowing full well that an argument is bound to happen when things aren't kept civil or respect isn't shown.
