2013 Rookie Spotlight

Profile

There was plenty of excitement about Graham coming into 2013. An average of 111 in the TAC showed he had excellent DT potential but a knee injury ruined his start to the year and it wasn't until June that Nick played his first VFL game. He took the comp by storm - averaging 25 disposals, 5.1 marks and 6.1 tackles across 8 games before finally earning a senior call up. Both his AFL games were as sub, scoring 39 after coming on mid way though the third term in Round 21 and 51 in three and a bit quarters in Round 22.

There is no questioning Graham's scoring potential, he had an incredible kick/handball ratio of 2.8:1 in the VFL, is a tackling machine and a capable goalkicker. It's really just a matter of if he can get a run of full games. Should that happen you will see his price rise from rookie levels to 300k+ very quickly.

I reckon he will become a very good player for Carlton. On the watch list

Nige

Should have gone way before he did in the draft, still surprised he went at #54.

kinda leaning toward no on this one

given that total score (from 1 and a quarter games of footy) is 90, then that leaves about ~70 if he plays a fullgame
while i do appreciate that he could be a DT premo when he peaks, i don't think it'll be a good cash-cow this year

as for price-wise, an average of 45 (i'm expecting an increase in MN) will price him around ~240k, but then -10% for playing under 3 games - so around 220k for a guy that can only (as you implied in your post) reach ~300k, it's not a worthy investment for me - he'd be more than top draft picks at that price

happy to be eating humble pie after he scores well though, but leaning against it for me

Yep price is a big factor on Graham. His stats look great at VFL level but its whether he can make enough cash next year
