Profile

After a drastic improvement from the Suns, Swallow had taken a step backwards and has been on the decline from his debut season back in 2011. 2013 was a very poor season from the former no. 1 draft pick standards, and this was due to a number of factors. The improvement of Prestia and the injection of the dynamic O'meara in the midfield had somewhat forced Swallow to play a new role in defense, he also sustained a knee injury in the second half the season which made him miss a few games.

Though playing in defense had a negative impact on Swallow's scores, he did also shine through in his newly found role and kept some of his opponents quiet on the day.

Verdict

So what could all this mean for Swallow in the 2014 season? With more exposure in the Midfield he should easily increase his average, but with him playing well in defense in 2013 and the introduction of Martin, this may force him to play in his new role for the Suns.

Another worrying factor about Swallow is that he hasn't reached a 30 disposal game in his career.

By the matter of facts the only way Swallow can improve is if he is given an opportunity in the midfield or he starts to become the rebounding defender in his side. But by gut feel, he is coming into his 4th season, meaning a natural improvement should occur, and i also have a lot of belief in his potential.

Prediction: 80 points (90 if he plays midfield)

tbagrocks

Pending trades witch should drop back to 30, but, one day will turn it on

Massive smoky  ;D

Ricochet

There are so many potential mid/def's next year. Simpson, McVeigh, Mitchell, Swallow.
I'd probably pick the first three before him though

Very nice writeup popedelio

Colliwobblers

yeah good write up, i think swallow is well and truly good enough to be a pure mid, they often play them back a season or two to work on the defensive side of their games, I expect him to be developed into a premium mid in time, but i won't start with him in DT.

probably won't expect to see his best until 2015 either but i do think he is destined for premium midfielder status in time.

plenty of room in the suns midfield for him but he needs to get more like his bro (defensive - two way player)

specky92

Should easily get dpp in my opinion, has 9 cogs next to his name out of 18 games.

Mr.Craig

He was absolutely awful in the games I saw. Couldn't believe the Suns didn't drop him.

I'm not writing him off as a player but as far as a DT pick...I'll leave it to those who are braver than me.

Considering him  :-\

Don't know whether I should go with him or save money and go with KoloKade

popedelio

Depends on how you see them scoring and kolo's js. Swallow can possibly step it up in the midfield so can go 80+. Kolo did score well at the championships but that was also in divi 2. Hopefully NAB can give us some answers

but will he get there?
considering he was given LOTS of defensive roles, surely he'd be carrying on to be picked there, especially considering the glut of mids that GC already have (and Martin, who you think wouldn't be playing a bit-part role)

truBLUE

I currently have swallow be watching nab to see how he does , Hoping he has a big year :)

The key word there is if he goes in the midfield, I reckon he should post 80+ given the fact the suns are improving. Also Martin won't be in his way, I believe he will start on the wing/half forward. Players that are in his way are Prestia, O'meara, Bennell and the almight GAJ (Could be missing a few)
