SUMMARY:

2013 season, Long term injury

Thomas had a long term ankle injury which put him out for most of the season. The Magpies confirmed they had given up on regaining Thomas for the finals. It is a major blow for Collingwood ahead of the finals and could mean a third bout of ankle surgery for Thomas since last November. Thomas also becomes a restricted free agent at the end of this season and is in negotiations with the Magpies. He is among three big names yet to confirm their AFL futures beyond this year, along with Hawthorn key forward Lance Franklin and Richmond onballer Dustin Martin.

VERDICT:

Thomas had an injury interrupted season only averaging 75.8 which was pretty much the worst of his career. With Thomas stating his ankle is fine now he should get a full pre-season into him and be raring to go in 2014. He played 5 games and averaged poorly so he should be quite cheap for a quality dreamteamer like Thomas. Which club will he be at in 2014 ? Apparently only a failed medical exam will stop him from joining Carlton. Seems like a bit of a no-brainer for me having this guy in my team next year.

2014 FanPlanner Price:  $326,400

Yeah same, certainly locked for me at this stage, if he's at carlton or collingwood. Hopefully he keeps his DPP due to not playing enough games, but I doubt it  :(

Kellogscrunchynut

Needs to find some form to be a DT success next year, wouldn't think that he'd lose DPP after a mere 5 games.

If he kept his DPP he would be one of the most selected players in 2014 im thinking

What does this mean for Gibbs and Murphy, personally i think it will help both, maybe attract less attention to murphy and since Thomas played on the back flank last year (in his best game) it may mean gibbs can get thrown into the middle more!

That's a good point hopefully they will all improve on their averages from last year, not sure if i could put Murphy or Gibbs into my team tho unless by some miracle they had DPP

Vinny

Gibbs will probably lose DPP, no longer making him relevant :(

If anything he would gain Back/Mid DPP rather than becoming MID only

wouldn't put Gibbs in, but surely Murphy at a mere ~430k for someone who can average 100+ is almost a lock for me
ditto Daisy IF he's not mid-only

Yeah true, i guess you could start with him and then upgrade him to a higher scoring premo with one of your 44 trades

Yeah I'm considering it, he would have to be m5 for me, wouldn't want him in top 4 mids though as is supect when tagged.

Vinny

I traded him this year at 450k, gets injured after one week and I trade him to Naitanui who spuds from that point onwards and I end up trading him for cash to a dead ruckmen in Craig Moller. Haha so that's what Daisy has done to me ;)

Scrads

Lock for me if named round 1 and forward eligible.

Ricochet

If he has a good preseason and keeps dpp he is easily a lock

Two ankles and DPP - lock him in!
