So I have 4 trades left with $170,000 in the bank. Currently my weakspots in my team are Mitchell at M8, Franklin at F6 and Ellis at D6.
Ellis' breakeven is at 152, so he should drop in price quite a bit this week. I am thinking of going him to Heath Shaw this week. This will leave me with 3 trades left for the rest of the season: 1 big downgrade, probably Nicholls, then Staker to Goldstein (DPP Action) and Mitchell to a mid premium to complete my team. This will leave my team looking like this with no trades left.

Goddard, Gibbs, Shaw, Hartlett, Ibbotson, Hanley (Clisby, Wilson)
Ablett, Pendlesbury, Griffen, Dangerfield, Swan, Barlow, JPK, Premium - probably Cotchin or Jack, (Martin, Viney)
Goldstein, Clarke - keeping coz of excellent run home , (Currie, Mcbean)
Stevie J, Bartel, Rockliff, Cox, Cloke, JJK (Buddy, Daniher)

This solves my Buddy issue as I can see what he scores, and if he scores well I can sub on Daniher to get Buddys score. This also leaves my side set. However to do this I have to go Ellis to Shaw this week, and have to run the risk of injuries, as I will have no trades left with 3-4 weeks to go. Any advice, alternate strategies, or even just telling me not to do it is appreciated.
Thanks heaps

Yough mate, but I wouldn't do it.
With that many trades I think you can afford to have Mitchell as M8 and Buddy as F6. I've been on at JROO to drop Ellis for Hanley, I think Ellis to Shaw is a good call but also uses your bankroll and a trade. I think the rest of that backline is good enough to survive having Ellis in place of Shaw. The situation you don't want is zero trades and a "complete team", as soon as you get an LTI you're ruined.

Just hold off, see what happens. If you're dead set on dropping Ellis then yeah Ellis to Shaw, but definitely hold on to those last 3 trades.

Yep, out of the 3 I would just go ellis to hanley or grimes even. Franklin still fine for a 100 and mitchell is still going up in value.

Those last 3 trades I wouldn't do for a while if ever. I would try and hold off for as long as possible, until Mitchell or someone started losing money.

Teams like Geelong Hawthorn Sydney even Fremantle will rest players before the AFL finals I got caught out last year it cost me all my league finals so unless you are in contention for overall or you are fighting to get in the top 8 hold on to those trades as long as you can

Ellis is adequate and unless you absolutely have to go for broke to make finals, I would hold and save those precious trades.

Shaw is just as likely to chuck in a 70 anyway. Max ppg difference is likely to be only about 15 per week - if that.

Wait if you can.

Also, use that uneasy feeling in the pit of your stomach to remind you next year that trades are valuable.

and shaw is bloody expensive for a def. You could get a fallen premo mid with that price.

It's so funny that supercoach gives us six more trades to play with and we're all still wringing our hands in week 16 or 17 because we have 4 trades left and no complete team yet. Reckon they could give us 100 trades and we'd still find a way to stuff it up, lol.
