"Assuming you mean a chicken's egg.

If you believe in Evolution then it's the egg. There was once a creature that was nearly a chicken, but not quite. It laid an egg that contained a genetic mutation, and the creature that was born from the egg became the first chicken.

If you believe in Creationism, then we have to assume that it was the chicken, as the description in the Bible states that God created the animals in their adult state, i.e. he created two adult chickens, and they mated and laid the first egg."
