If Birchall was the same price as Hartlett, Waters or Scotland... would you bring him in for Gibbs instead?

I was originally going to keep Gibbs and go Pittard to Vlastuin, leaving me with 208k in the bank to upgrade Heath to Birchall next week, but now I'm thinking of sideways trading Gibbs to Hartlett this week while he is cheap.

I really want Birch and have planned to get him in next week for the last two weeks, but he'll still be around the 500k mark for a while and will he really outscore the above trio by enough to justify his price?

I'm now thinking Stevie J to Westhoff and Gibbs to Hartlett this week, leaving me with about 142k in the bank. Then next week downgrade Heath to Vlastuin (if named) and upgrade Stevenson to Gibbs (If named). Otherwise I may even bring in Birch next week and leave Gibbs until after the byes. Thoughts?

Good plan. If you can avoid doughnuts and still get rid of the Hoff, you're laughing

If you trade out Gibbs I wouldn't be bringing him in until he's played at least one game, I've got a sneaky suspicion he might miss more than 1 and even if he comes back next week and plays a full game he should still go down in price
my trades this week
Moloney to Hartlett - DPP Hartlett into defence and Goodes on midfield pine
Gibbs to either Birch or Scotland - still tossing up between the two
I'll bring Vlastuin in next week if named

I went Birch over Hartlett.  I just think Birch is way more consistent, and I don't mind paying the extra coin knowing that he's a safer option.

Will bring in Birch next week before his stellar 3 week run.  8)

:) My solution.

To the OP, yes, if Birchall was the same price, >>> Hartlett/Waters/Scotland.

I've done similar, however I've kept Maloney and traded out Whitfield.  He's sat on my pine for the past two weeks and his ceiling combined with his scoring potential have me ready to wave adios.  Compared to my feeling on Maloney's importance to the Lions and flat out ability to score a lot more that Whitfield.  He likes to kick the ball you see ;)

Ok, got my trading plan sorted... this could be dangerous. :-\

This Week:

Westhoff --> Stevie J & Gibbs --> Hartlett

Next Week:

Heath --> Vlastuin & Pittard --> Birchall

Week After:

Wines --> Lonergan & Moloney --> Premo Mid (Watson/Boyd/Stanton)

Week After That:

Stevenson --> Gibbs

Future carnage will probably kill this plan, but what can you do. :P

I think this week proves that even the best laid plans can be completely messed around.

I'm taking the chance to bring in Birchall now. I would absolutely hate to not have him for the GWS/GCS/Melb run.

Very sound plan Adamant.

What's your thoughts on Hibberd instead of Hartlett.
Avg 90 - BE 42
Last 4 rounds 97, 113, 84, 88.

Plays GWS, Geelong, Lions, Richmond & Swans next 5 weeks.

Really interesting point. With Heppell out of the Essendon lineup, Hibbs could be a goer? Probably rack up a huge score this week...

Question is though; will he be a top 6 defender by years end?

Adamant

I just think that because I'm trading Gibbs, I need to bring in a guaranteed top 6 defender. Hibbo has had a great start and should maintain an 80+ average, but have my doubts on him finishing as a top 6-10 defender. Good pick-up at 411k though.
