After a few delays and a lot of speculation, Giles finally re-signed with the Giants earlier this week. Definitely a positive move from a fantasy view, even though GWS is likely to draft Grundy Giles will likely be the #1 ruck for GWS again this year and may improve his average to over 100.

Problem is he's in a somewhat awkward position, I doubt he'll average as much as a Naitanui or a Goldstein, but he doesn't quite offer the value of a player like Leuenberger.

Another thing that has me worried is the imminent addition of Grundy, who (if I'm not mistaken) already weighs over 100 kg. He's ready to come in and take ruck some ruck minutes straight away.

For those who don't quite trust Leu's body, Giles could prove a great second ruck, but even then he isn't a lock.

It's going to depend on the eventual set-up I run with my rucks, but if I do decide I don't want to go for Leu Giles will likely come into considerations.

Prediction: +9 102.

WOW nice work Sid! That looks great!
Won't be picking Giles though as I would rather pay a little extra for a proven premium. He was pretty good this year but.

Mailman the 2nd

I'm going to be the nick picking spelling nazi

It's Re-sign not resign :P

Kellogscrunchynut

Naitanui is just to good to pick this guy, although if Leuenberger crumbles early Giles may get a call up.

quinny88

Nice write up sid, love the new layout.
Yea not for me this time around but will be solid

Shihan7

Nice write up Sid, template looks great!
Will have to pass on Giles...Goldy/NicNat and Berger for me.

MTTY

I really, really want to fit him in my team but at the moment is not fitting my structure.

I think that he could score insanely well as a ruck, if he becomes further consistent. Has those huge ceiling scoring games, as he is usually one of the better GWS players in close matches and even in big losses, along with his ability to kick goals when forward.

Any other thoughts, on playing him as my R1?

I don't think he's proven enough to be R1 MTTY... High risk/high reward scenario, but he definitely fell away towards the end last year, second year blues could see him drop more... If you were going to give him a run surely it has to be at R2. Even then I'm not sure on the value of him TBH, at nearly 500k you have to be picking him as a keeper, I would rather have Goldy for a fraction less.

Cheers GCSkiwi for the opinion, makes me feel a whole lot better about not having him at the moment.  :)
