Hey guys,

Just something is was tossing up with for the first few rounds (R1-4 or so for second combination), and was looking for some other opinions. The way is see it is after 4 or so rounds:

J.J.Kennedy: 80 points avg
Bartel: 90-95 avg
Beams: 110-115 avg
Total: 280-290 points a week

Fyfe: 100 point avg
N.Roo: 100 point avg (Easy early draw, plays GC (126 last year), Rich(100 last year), GWS(Not played but expect similar to GC), Ess(135 last year))
J.Bolton: 100 point avg (Easy early draw also, plays GWS(97 and 101 last year), GC(128 last year), NM(106 last year), Gee(96 & 86 last year))
Total: 300 points a week

Am i being too optimistic about the 2nd option? Thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

JJK 73, Bartel 98, Beams 116
vs
Fyfe 101, Roo 90, Bolton 90

(a) wins. Don't go around targeting fixtures, it's asking for trouble.

Yeah, I don't see why you would get someone purely based on their early draw. Basically means when you decide to sideways trade them to another premium, others are trading their rookies & mid-pricers and will have an extra premium than you. It may make you a couple of points early on, but it will most definitely lose you points over the entire season.
Option 1 for me.

JJK 75, Bartel 92, Beams 113

Vs

Fyfe 100, Roo 88, Bolton 95

The first option is defiantly better, Fyfe as dodgy shoulders aswell and Roo hasn't showed a low so far!!

essendon2

JJK 78, Bartel 95, Beams 116

Vs

Fyfe 104, Roo 95 (first few rounds), Bolton 90

I'd still take Option 1

Chasing fixtures does work for the first 4-5 rounds. Rookies and Midpricers won't have made enough money by then so others won't be spending trades upgrading them. We have two trades a week so over the first 3-4 rounds you might as well take a punt on fixtures with a couple of players and trade them to other premos after a prise rise or two

Yeah but if these players don't kill it, your plan is kind of ruined. If the premiums you chose not to get because you thought they'd start poorly kill it, then that stuffs up your plan as well. Also if you happen to have any injuries in your team, rookies getting dropped, etc. then that ruins things as well. Just my opinion though I guess.

Very true but the same goes for any under priced player, mid pricer or expensive rookie. Depends on the setup of the rest of your team

Fair point. I mean, if it's someone you think you might keep for the entire season, then definitely go for it. But getting someone like Nroo because you think he'll go great for the first 2 or 3 rounds just seems a bit too much for me. Each to their own though.
