I want goddard in my mid as a DPP smart option?

The general logic behind having Goddard as a defender is that there are much fewer defenders capable of scoring highly so by taking Goddard as a midfielder, you're selecting him in a position where there are already a plethora of high scoring options. Granted, as he should be getting more time in the midfield at Essendon, his average should increase but that is all the more reason to select him as a defender where there are less than a handful of players who will average 100+. DPP doesn't really sway me on this either as we have more trades to use this year and as many SC aficionados know by now, it's almost entirely pointless trying to plan for the byes because so much can happen between now and then.

im probably going with it also,it seperates him & heppell & can switch him with vlastuin or goodes if necessary who will both be in my backline, cant see whats so terrible about that, goddard as a premium mid & your able to get the cream of the crop rookie mids,or put goodes/vlastuin there & sacrifice an omeara or 1 of the other kids, nah i will let 2 potential soild contributors trudge away on the backline & give omeara/whitfield/crouch/k.mitchell/wines/lonergan/viney(3 of them)every chance to rack em up & rise in price

If your that keen on using the Mid/Def DPP then it would be better to use Vlastuin/Goodes as ur M10 and leaving Goddard in your defence. Having Goddard in ur mids is only filling up another spot were someone else could average 120 whereas he and Gibbs are the only ones likely to average that in Def.

I tried doing this last year - had Lids in the mids for most of the first part of the year. Saved me a couple of times, but got stuck with him there for a while because I couldn't get him back to Def when I needed to...

Not going down that path this year...

Jroo

Nah having BJ in the middle is a wast. Get him down back.

A lot of you guys seem to not be thinking about this.  Quinn was talking about as a DPP option not just to cement in the midfield instead of defence for the sake of it.

At the end of the day having Goddard as a mid and Colquhon/Goodes (a rookie D/M) in defence is nearly identical to having
Goddard as a defender and Colquhon/goodes as a mid.

You make your decision which way you go, on comparing your rookies in your defence and midfield. If Colquhon/Goodes is good enough to start in your defence but not in your midfield.  It would make sense to have goddard starting as a mid.  Although is Colquhon/Goodes is only good enough to be on your defense bench but could start in your midfield, having goddard in mids rather than defence would be silly.

As long as when your finalising your team you make sure you have Goddard in your defence and not stuck in the mids.
