Agree 100% with Millhouses comments as well,  With my commenting just try to add my observations or concerns and let the coach make up his mind and go with gut feel. Sometime offer suggestions.

It is hard at times with some of the teams being posted but I try to keep this in the back of my mind and give balanced opinions which at times may differ to others.  If I did not do this would have 100s of Ringo teams and that would not be good.

Your Team is strong MC for the strategy you are using and I said that in post.

Spot on Ringo mate, i've noticed that you most often suggest a few options, rather than try to dictate one in particular.

It's good to have a discussion re: certain players, I just dislike when people can't justify their comments to remove a certain player etc (not particularly on this thread - more relevant to others).

This can be said for the Shaw vs Goddard comments. Everyone is backing in Goddard 1000% (and given his history of high averages it's not such a bad thing) but rip through Shaw because of his recent history of silly mistakes made off field. In this instance, both players are 541k for averaging the same amount in 2012. The difference? Goddard has switched clubs (danger!!) and is said to be playing more in the midfield. Shaw on the other hand might be moving onto the wing and launching forward more often in the absence of Wellingham and Thomas. Shaw is a safer pick in my opinion, yet many people are strongly against the idea of him! I've chosen Shaw and Heppell, and will look to bring in Goddard later in the season once he's settled in.

Just loving this thread.

I would like to put a few stats to you.

One guy had not played 20 games a season since 2007. The other last played fewer than 20 in 2007.

One guy is a defender. The other is DPP.

One registered 9 games under 100 last year. The other 8.

Both similar price.

Oh yes, the more durable, consistent , mentally stable one is playing for a team on the rise and has left a team on the slide.

Who to pick?

I love this.

Cheers.  ;D

Scores below 60 in 2012?

Goddard - 2
Shaw - 0

Haha case and point! Just kidding :)

I'll most likely be convinced by some sort of God-like heroics throughout the pre-season, though with the current state of the EFC and the fact that BJ is probably wondering wtf he's gotten himself into - i'm not 100% sold just yet.

Most likely it's my Collingwood bias coming through - but who could forget the famous spoil in 2010 by the great man H. Shaw?!

Both players will average 100+

I predict Shaw - 105
Goddard - 110 (but only 90ish in rounds 1-8 haha)

Haha I love it! Convince me to start Heppell AND Goddard and i'll bring him in! ;)

Heppell is a lock for me, no flowering way am I missing his breakout - i've had him for every game he's played!

Now you are just being silly.

Goddard played 2 extra games which count as 101.2 points each.

Shaw's 'average' for these 2 games is that scored by your 'E' - if you had one. So ? Eillis 56 / Clarke 65 / if you were lucky Bugg 69?

Also scores < 80 = 4 each (so BJ 4/20 and Heater 4/18 BJ wins that one)

Games scores < 90 BJ 6/20 Heater 6/18 - BJ again.

Just remember that 83% of statistics are made up on the spot.  ;)

Get both and Gibbs if you can but Goddard > Gibbs > Shaw for me.
