Hi Guys,

At present I have Moloney but could affor to swap for Mundy.

Wondered if there was some wisdom . Happy to hear thoughts about the midline, also - knowing that the rooks aren't fixed yet.

Many Thanks.

I think if you put Mundy in you are going to leave the rest of your team short changed. Midfield rookies is where a vast majority of the money is made so you need to find the right balance. Personally would take Moloney just for the reason i mentioned, you'll need to spend money elsewhere, so the cheaper option in Moloney will let you do that.

vtaced

I would take neither and get a rookie in. Spend the money somewhere else

Pokerface

Neither. Kane Mitchell needs to be there along with the other rooks you already have.

Grazz

5 mid prems is probably enough tbh mate as 6 will leave you under strength on another line. If you absolutely have your heart set on a 6th mid then i would probably opt for Mundy.

Not on the senior list and also not very good disposal, might struggle to make the team and rule him out for round 1

Agree with Grazz that 6 starters is risky also because there are many good cash cow rooks to be had, and surely Moloney's not going to get the 110-115 ave you will need for him to be a keeper?

I to voted neither Think you need a rookie at M6 to take advantage of cash gains to allow upgrades.  Having another midpricer would significantly decrease your upgrade chances as it has been proven mid rookies rise the quickest.

If for M5 would be a different matter

Lots of differing opinions here which is good,in 2011 Moloney ave 99.3.
If,and imo he can,get back to those numbers,he will be a great choice either for a M10 candidate or a straight swap once he fattens.
M6 why not? In previous years with 6 mid structure many started with 5 premo mids which worked well for them.
So 5 + 1 mid pricer is not out of the question.
And imo your scoring strength  in the main is mid/ruck/fwd so starting a 3 premo def allows you to spend more elsewhere.
This is our first year at the new structure so really its open to find the right starting choices and how much & where to spend.
To me, the most important player that will determine my starting structure is Matthew Leuenberger.

Thats a very heavy midfield. Must be suffering in other areas

Either would be a good 6, look Mundy could well end up being a keeper, IMO he will push 105-110.

Moloney could well push 95, really depends if he starts with a bang or not, is a player that could throw
you some 60/70's as well. You are right, if he goes bang and can avg 90-95  he could be an easy up
to a fallen prem by round 6 or 7. Wont take a lot of cash either, in effect you can live with 1 less cash cow.

Emberly could do the same, same as ball.

I am actually playing Mundy at 5 and moloney at 6, might even try and squeeze embers in at M7 yet. Depends
how they look over the next weeks. Have decieded to just go with 3 prems in the backs, see what happens I guess.

Most importantly, we are going to have to nail our rooks everywhere else I reckon, cash must flow.

I don't have a problem with the midfield structure at all. I've done something similar, and even though one other line might be slightly weaker, you should gain an early points advantage. Mundy has gone 107 before so i would pick him over Moloney. But keep an eye on his progress through NAB because he is coming back from a small injury.

GM

Mundy is $110k more than Moloney,so as M6 Moloney fits.
Another issue for me is which fwds & Defs can you be confident of scoring well going into rd1.
2 maybe 3 you could pen in,but them aside imo its not as easy as your mids.
So, quinny thats my line of thinking atm.Just so many variables with no certainty.

Yeah he's not on the senior list right now, but Port have a spot to upgrade with LTI to Salter - Mitchell's for the taking. Sandover medal winner, mature age rookie - and his disposal is no worse than the majority of Port...

Thanks for the opinions fellas.

This is the stage of the season where it could end up being a new team every day, if I'm not careful.

Go a rookie. a rookie could score just as much as moloney and think of the extra coin. i dont rate mundy so imo i wouldn't pick him
