A Left Field Thought

Just throwing a bit of a experimental team together which only fields midfield rookies and relies on mid-pricers to average better and have better JS than back and forward rookies

Backs: Goddard, Gibbs, Watts, Yarren, J.Russell, Tambling....(Goodes, Docherty)

Mids: GAJ, Pendles, Dangerfield, Cotchin, Wines, K.Mitchell, O'Meara, Viney.....(Crouch, Jones)

Rucks: McEvoy, Luenberger....(Currie, Rowe)

Fwds: Cox, Roughead, Rockliff, Wright, Varcoe, Byrnes.....(Macaffer, Neade)

$12,500 left

Provided Russell, Tambling keep up their good NAB cup form and cement a first 22 place.....do we think this actually has any merit?

Only thing I would do is get Swan instead of either Danger or Cotchin and you could fund this by getting rid of one of Russell or Tumbling.

No worries for me.

colmullet

could also do that by bringing in Mummy/Goldstein

tor01doc

Yep. And that is why the Goldberger is so popular.

Gives you at least one really positive upgrade elsewhere for only a slight loss (if at all).

colmullet

any other thoughts would be great guys :)

Just check round 13 byes and your mids - Adelaide / Collingwood / GCS - you've got 3 already.

Not that I am that worried, but surely you could pick someone other than Danger to avoid trouble then. JPK / Selwood / Jack / Selwood / Priddis / Fyfe - but now that I look at it, gee a lot of mid guns are out in round 13!

> $550000

Adelaide - Danger / Scotty T / Sloane
Carlton - Murphy / Judd / McLean
Collingwood - Swan / Pendles / Beams / Sidebottom
Essendon - Watson / Stanton
GCS - Ablett
GWS - Ward

So 14 / 30 playing round 13.

Round 11 - only 7 but that includes Tuck who will be in only a very few teams. So effectively 6 - Redden / Mitchell / Cotchin / Lids / Boyd / Griffen

Round 12 - 9 but Kelly and O'Keefe - as if - so the 7 = Selwood / JPK / Jack / Swallow / Priddis / Selwood / Shuey

I'll try and pick one from round 11 and one from 12 at least and avoid more than 3 max by round 13 to try and minimose trades and the penalty for not planning ahead. Because to be honest, how sure can we be that Danger is better than JPK or Beams or Selwood for that matter this year?

thankx man, i didn't check the bye situation with this team, but with only having to field 18 players each round during the byes there's plenty of wiggle room that there wasn't last year.

As far as Danger goes.....i really think he will be a top 3 pick this year, his second half to the year last year was awesome once he settled into his midfield role, he might actually be a tad underpriced at the moment.

tor01doc

Of all the mids, I reckon Murphy is the 'cheapest' topliner. A bit like Selwood last year - price lower due to injury.

Murphy's bye? Yes, you guessed it, round 13!  :(

Fyfe too, if you rate him.

colmullet

i do like Fyfe, i think Barlow has the greater chance to average 115+ though, he's an absolute ball magnet. Fyfe is great to, maybe 110 for him....wouldn't mind seeing him get through a season without that shoulder going pop though, sounds like the kinda thing that might pop up over n over for him, i hope not though he's got plenty of talent

Doesn't actually look to left field to me, think you have most bases covered.
I do have a chuckle to myself every time I see King Richard Tambling named in a team. Who Knows, I might regret not having him.
Nice team bud !

Def: Sound except for Jordan Russell who you should downgrade to Stevenson
Mids: As you have 3 Round 13 premiums in your team may want to get Kennedy in your team instead of Dangerfield
Rucks: Mcevoy will be good again this year averaged 104 last year
Fwds: Very Strong wouldn't change anything

Overall Well balanced team Tambling may pay off i see Ringo has him in his team 8/10
