I cannot decide whether Marc Murphy with the extra responsibility this season as captain, will help or decimate him as a fantasy player. What do you guys think?

Knowing that their is some risk with him, would you still pick Murphy or get a Selwood, Boyd or Mitchell?

Murphy has a big big upside, priced at 600k he is underpriced by 50k or so in my opinion.

Boyd and Mitchell always have that age factor over their heads, and I can't see either improving where Marc could improve.

Selwood is a gun but I'm really concerned over all the head knocks he has taken and the fact it could really destroy his season if he got himself another one. Murphy is in my team at the moment and will most likely be there round one.

On a side note I did read an article on DT Talk last season (Obviously dream team) that was relevant regarding captains, it showed that players lifted their output quite significantly when made captain. So I wouldn't worry about that being an issue

Have to lock Murphy in at that price. You may be concerned with his captaincy and how it will affect him... but what about Mick Malthouse and how he will affect Murphy. Expect a massive season from Marc, lock him in mate  :)

Won't change a thing for murph. He's not a kid, he's 25 and he's an accomplished gun of the game already. I just can't squeeze him in due to the bye structure :(

Ditto, with Goddard and Gibbs then Ablett and Pendles/Swan it's hard to fit him in with Bye structure.

GUN.
Number 1 draft pick.
Coming to prime age.
Captaincy will make him work harder, if that's possible,  IMO.
MM has a record of getting the best out of his players...

Mad if ya don't  ;D

IMO I still don't think Murphy can handle a tag!! You remember last year? I still think he needs to prove himself with a tag week in week out to get him in as a premo this year. Don't worry about the captaincy

year         games     ave.
2009          22      112.9
2010        21      111.9
2011          22      118.0
2012          16      112.7

SC gun... struggled with the shoulder last year- IMO will see him find his 2011 form or better this year.

I don't think so but even if he does, he won't face a decent tag until Saints in round 7

YES I remember. he is better than judd now so getting tagged more. needs to cope better with it.

Did anyone watch him last night?

He didnt score too well, but i heard that he started the game pretty strongly. Did he get tagged or was it more of a workload management thing?

I guess it comes back to how much you can take out of pre-season form

Bye bye Murphy.

Maybe after round 13 but I just cannot select him before GAJ, Pendles, Swan, Beams, Danger or Watson.
