I had Ellis and Morris in my side for most of last year. Haven't heard much about them this year. Does anyone know if they are under consideration for this season in the backline planning?

Can't see why not, Morris should be playing in the pocket while Ellis may start from the flank and move up into the midfield.

Maybe their prices if anything are the worry, consistency shouldn't be much of a problem though and Ellis should be safe from the vest this year.

Do you mean under consideration for DT selection?

If so, I haven't really seen many coaches considering them.. Morris, while I absolutely love him, isn't a good enough scorer to be relevant at his price, despite it being likely he will play 22 games in the back pocket.

Ellis could be a bit of a smokey, didn't show a lot in scoring last year, albeit sub affected. This year apparently he is looking a lot bulkier, and has improved his fitness and could see some more mid time. COULD still be at risk of getting subbed though imo, but the year that Chris Newman retires ( :'( ) he will be a very good pickup.

Ellis will be a lock in the backline in a couple of years. Morris will never be a big scorer

Morris isn't a big accumulator of the ball, so will never be really fantasy relevant (only last year due to his price), will play all 22 games and is one of my favorite players, attacks the ball as hard as anyone in the comp.
Ellis I see running off a wing and half-back and I'd give him one more year before he really breaks out.
I reckon our back 6 would be:
B: Grimes Challin Batchelor
HB: Morris Rance Houli
While Newman and Ellis on the bench.

Yeah, that looks about right. Ellis even on the wing potentially?

Risky... But could pay off.

Think him & Reece conca will share the green vest though unless a debutant breaks into the team
