So what you're really asking is should you go with:

Ablett & Mitchell (I'm assuming you mean Kane from Port?) vs Mundy & Claye Beams

In which case, right now, I would go with Mundy/Beams. I think Beams has better JS than Mitchell at this early stage of the year, and given that Ablett will most likely drop in $ I'd wait. However I'd be watching NAB cup very closely to see how Mundy performs

Just looking at the question posted, ablett and mitch most definitely get the gig. In saying that though, with a full team in mind, my team right now looks closer the the second option.
Just ask yourself two questions really: Are you going for a league win, or overall win? Do you think Ablett will maintain his price, or willl it be worth waiting a few weeks?
If going for overall win, just grab him now and lock him right in there.

option 1 wins easily, but option 2 might be closer to option 1 if claye beams was a rook and mundy was selwood or another elite mid...

option 1 would still win, without swan you need ablett, they are really the only two who can consistently put up the massive numbers that you want next to your captain.

not to say others can't and don't but those two do it far more often than most.
