MC

Also was top 1000 in 2011 ;)

Anyway, first crack at 2013 - haven't done extensive research on rooks etc as yet, just picked up a few names here and there. Will all be dependant on pre-season form/named rd 1 etc/

Of course my team is likely to change a few (thousand) times between now and then as well haha

Def: Goddard, Gibbs, Hanley, Broughton, Yarran, Staker (Docherty, Terlich)
Mids: GAJ, Pendles, Cotchin, Murphy, Stevens, Mitchell (port), Crouch, Mitchell (Syd) (Viney, O'Meara)
Ruck: Goldy, Berger (Witts, Currie)
Fwd: Buddy, Rocky, Martin, Cloke, Christensen, Daniher (Macaffer, D1ck)

Again, not too fussed about rookies, though if you have any suggestions they would be very welcome.

Cheers :)

decent team.
can cloke get back to 95+ ???
iffy on Yarran/Stevens/Christensen. If they can get 85+ this season it could pay off VERY well for you, they all have talent and could be a bargain.

can Murphy show he can truly handle the tag??
i reckon you might need something more in the mid - like a mundy/fyfe or something like that.

hope it pays off for you.

MC

Cheers mate, i'm not sold on Murphy tbh - he's the one that stands out as most likely to change. Probably end up with another prem.

Starting to consider byes as well - though all of the defenders I want are rd 12 bye players... Might bite the bullet or sideways trade out of it when the time comes. What are you thinking of doing re: bye structure?

Keeper27

tbh i havent thought about it....

currently my Team B is running 11/7/12.

come round 11-13 you've already brought in gun players/Upcoming rooks who would ruin the bye strategy.
you only need your top 18 players for that round, as long as you have the 18 minimum then your ok.
might aswell start with the best possible team and trade in/out what you need/dont need.

MC

Yeah that's basically the theory i'm running with. Cheers for the advice :)

Ringo

Solid Team here:

DEF: Very solid line - Yarran may be gold if Mick uses him like Shaw.
Mids: Not a fan of 4 prem mid structure most teams will have 5.  You will need 4 rookie mids to play each week with this structure. Would like to see an Embley type in there as M5.
RUCKS: Solid and preety Standard.
FWDS: Very Strong Think you have overspent here,

No comments on rookies as you say will change.

Team rating 7.5/10

Couple of suggestions - Move Staker or Broughton to forwards in place of Cloke or Christensen.  Gives you a DPP link with these 2. Replace with another rookie defender.  Think there will be a number of rookie defenders this year.
Upgrade Cloke or Christensen to Nat, Cox, Ryder or Roughhead with savings made to give you further flexibility by changing one of Currie or Witts to McBean or Rowe.

With 30 trades this year and best 18 scores to apply for byes I think the better strategy is to pick best available team to commence with and trade to maximise the 18 best scores for byes. Round 11 and Round 13 appear troublesome bye rounds.

MC

Ok, thanks Ringo.

Made a few adjustments, and now it looks like:

MC's Mix Fanplanner squad in the Super Coach competition coached by bigmicca. Salary cap left: $37,000.

Brendon Goddard, Bryce Gibbs, Pearce Hanley, Greg Broughton, Chris Yarran, Sam Docherty
Sam Colquhoun, Dean Terlich

Scott Pendlebury, Josh P. Kennedy, Trent Cotchin, Matt Priddis, David Mundy, Kane Mitchell, Brad Crouch, Tom Mitchell
Jaeger O'Meara, Jack Viney

Todd Goldstein, Matthew Leuenberger
Jarrod Witts, Daniel Currie

Lance Franklin, Tom Rockliff, Travis Cloke, Allen Christensen, Travis Varcoe, Joe Daniher
Brent Macaffer, Brent Staker

Better or worse?

Keeper27

the structure is good. similar to mine.

you want the absolute best in your mids since there's only 8 spots to fill, there's only 10 or so mids who IMO will score over 120.

Priddis IMO just misses that cut, and i mean just.
take out his 4 scores below 100, and he avg'd 119.8

he could be a solid upgrade target but to start?? i'd rather start with the best possible team.

still iffy on cloke a christensen.

MC

Yeah not a bad point, but he is very consistent and durable. I'm more worried about Christensen than Cloke tbh - I'm tipping Cloke to push out 100s very regularly this season, and be up amongst the best forwards come season's end. He had a terrible year last year amidst speculation of a trade etc but should bounce back to his best this year with the big Q-stick sitting in the goal square out of the way.

DCAK

Def: Goddard, Gibbs, Hanley, Broughton, Yarran, Staker (Docherty, Terlich)
Mids: GAJ, Pendles, Cotchin, Murphy, Stevens, Mitchell (port), Crouch, Mitchell (Syd) (Viney, O'Meara)
Ruck: Goldy, Berger (Witts, Currie)
Fwd: Buddy, Rocky, Martin, Cloke, Christensen, Daniher (Macaffer, D1ck)

Hi mate here's my input on your team:

DEF: Fine, though will Docherty get a run? Who's going to be dropped from the Lion to make way for him?
MID: Fine, though I can't see how T. Mitchell can crack into the Swans team.
Ruck: Standard. Do you think Witts will be ruck # 2 over Grundy? Doubt it, same for Currie w/ Daw.
FWD: Is that D. Martin or S. Martin? Again I don't think McCaffer will play much, same samez D1ck.

7/10

Ringo

Solid Team now MC. Premium wise but no comments on rookies apart from fact you probably needs Wines in the mids.

Only prem I would change and this is a personal opinion would replace Buddy with another prem mainly due to Hawks horror draw and look at him as an upgrade target later at possibly a reduced price.
