Matthew Lobbe

With Luenberger cheap here is another cheap ruck who will give you extra cash for more premiums in other areas. 9 games in 2012 for an average of 68.3 doesnt seem that great but atm Lobbe is safely in my dream team. In his fourth season this year at Port, turning 24 in february Lobbe is ready to become one of the best ruckman in the competition. He was initially drafted as a development ff who could ruck (a bit like a kurt tippett) as a replacement for Warren Tredrea. Given 3 games in 2010 he played deep fwd and loked unfit and slow. After getting a taste for the AFL he went away and worked hard on his fitness and impressed in the SANFL. In 2011 when ports sole ruck Dean Brogan started breaking down, Lobbe was chucked in the deep end and giving the no.1 ruck role in just his 4th game of AFL. He played the rest of the year ave 72. Going into 2012 lobbe looked set for a breakout season but was struck down with injury in preseason. This is why Jarred Redden was given games last year. Lobbe played a handful of SANFL reserve matches and was rushed back into the port team prematurely. He ave 68 from his 9 games last year.

Why you should pick Matthew Lobbe

1) Ruckman generally take 3-4 years to develop, Lobbe is at that stage
2) He is no.1 ruck at port and seeing they rushed him back early in 2012 he has great js
3) He averaged 68 last year off no preseason. Considering he had concerns over his speed and fitness If he has a full preseason for 2013 he could be unstoppable

2013 should be his first full season as no.1 ruck. He was chucked in deep end at the end of 2011 and had injury interupted 2012. Jacobs ave high 80s in his first 'full' season as no.1 ruck, mcevoy averaged 90 in his, Luenberger ave 77 with hudson as no.1 but  pushed it to 90+ in 2011 when he took over the reins.

As ive already said, lobbe and luenberger as rucks could save you 200-300k for an upgrade of rook to premium fwd or def

Minimum Average: 74
Maximum Average: 95
Predicted Average: 86

If he gets a full pre season in lock him in

Great profile, F.A.R.K., you put forward a strong, sensible case for this fellow who I've had my eye on as well.  If he shows good form in the NAB I will seriously consider getting him in.

Well done there FARK..had not even looked at him as an option.. 8)

Holz

well constructed case, absolute no chance for me.

Sandi and Goldy much better picks in my opinion.

He's probably number 3 ruck at Port behind Renouf and Redden at the moment but all are pretty close with Renouf not proving to be that good a trade (from Hawks) and Redden developed well after pretty much been thrown in as No 1 ruck in 2012 due to Renouf and Lobbe being injured. Redden also looks more mobile around the ground as Lobbes extra bulk makes him less agile.

Lobbe at $344K, Redden $305K and Renouf $310K, where to go? (leuy is $233K) perhaps leave all alone i think as these aren't good prices, they don't have a Maric factor in them and haven't shown they can produce a big score. Lobbe and Redden will improve but won't set the world on fire in 2013 and will only give you a average of 60-70.

Just pay and extra $100K to get a Goldstein or Bellchambers and find a bargain in another position (Mid, Fwd or Def).

YOURE KIDDING ME RIGHT?!?!?

Im a heavy port fan and can not put words to how high port rate lobbe. The fact they rushed him back from injury last year has to show he is no.1

Renouf was recruited as a fwd/2nd ruck and he is a spud there is no chance he is no.1

Redden cant even play 4 quarters of footy and is only getting games because lobbe/renouf were injured. Even when he was sole ruck he was playing back up to westhoff, trengove and daniel stewart

Lobbe is definately no.1 by a mile

Why not save yourself 100k and take a punt on lobbe, look through at his scores from the last two seasons, he hits high 80s, 90s and even 100s a few times, if he can get a full preseason in he will have less 50 and 60 games and more consistent high scoring games. A no.1 ruck who has only played 24 games and is still slow and unfit, i think preseason is the biggest thing and if he haves a good one and improves his fitness base he will be the ruck story of the year

I'm Port fan too and went to most games in 2012 and agree that Renouf is a spud but the gap between all 3 is not that great. I expected more from Lobbe in 2012 when he was playing. He is No 1 for a hit out ruckman at Port but Redden appeared to present more around the ground for possession.

From Ports perspective I hope that a solid pre-season from both Lobbe and Redden generate competition and they both improve but I won't be risking them in my Dreamteam, have too many other risk players.

I'm surprised Renouf wasn't delisted actually, probably has another year on Contract.

Lobbe is definately no.1 by far and beyond. Played last year with no preseason and minimal work after injury he did well if you consider that

I found redden far more impressive.
