def, not a fan of this line i don't like picking Bock don't think he will be right for round 1 not to meantion 4 of your non rookies have round 13 byes which could be a problem just think your spending to much cash here

mids, very weak will struggle against teams that have 5-6mids which will make games hard to win for you

rucks, i don't trust HMAC at all no thanks

forwards, spending way to much cash here again with 3 600k players :o plus Nic Nat might not be 100% bye round 1

team needs a bit of work TBH sorry :-[

Theory is that the best rookies are in the midfield and hence i spend less there then 90% of teams will.
Obviously i will watch injury prior to locking my team but at first glance Bock is a bargain!

I have loaded my forwards and backs as these are always the hardest areas to get right ...

HMac was a cheaper option in the ruck to allow me to bloat out my forwards and backs ... again there are so many options in the ruck that it is easy to trade around if he doesn't work out.  I also have two rucks in my forward line which makes trading HMac if he doesn't work easier ...

I have also gone for a fair degree of flexibility with DPP ...

Haven't looked at the bye as yet but take you point - it is only Jan and a rough first cut :o)

Ringo

First cut of team solid base to work from.

Adopting different strategy to most so that may pay off or put you way behind.  Personally I think any team with less than 4 mid prems will be behind the eightball to start with.  However your strategy.

Def: Bock is still to commence full training so at this stage would appear doubtful for Round 1.  With the number of Rookie defenders this year 4 prems may be an overkill.  Basically will Birchill score more than a prem mid but suits your strategy. Also 4 out of the 6 have Round 13 bye.
Mids: As said above consider weak with Ball at M4 and Varcoe should be in forwards if using as DPP rookie would be a better choice.
Rucks: Gutsy call with H Mac - Will he shine at Geelong. Goldstein may be a better option at similar price.
Fwds: Nic Nat getting over a groin injury and may not be there for round 1.  Would also switch Broughton and Staker

Overall Strong Def and Fwd lines but mid line suffers.  If comfortable with structure you are proposing then adjust according to this.  Most Teams I have seen are looking at a 4/5/2/4 premium structures so to keep up you will be relying on your 5th forward and 5th defender to keep pace with most teams 4th and 5th mids,

I have always been a fan of DPP but with rule changes this year do not think they are as important than in previous years with the exception of rucks. (30 trades and best 18 scores for bye rounds has diminished the relevance of DPP imo.)

Rate this team 7/10 atm

Thanks Ringo ... still playing with my strategy but never like to follow the crowd.

I could easily get two more guns into my mids and swap out Birchall and NicNac ... but them my team would just start looking like everyone else's ...

Appreciate the constructive feeback however.

Cheers.

i think there is a good chance scotland will miss the 1st few games as long as Carlton has the balls and suspend him. I'm not sure about your fwd line..Maybe downgrade Murphy for a 500k-520k player, change scotland for maybe a Duffield or reilly.

I would downgrade COX for Roughead and then upgrade adams or mayes to maybe rioli, sylvia ( i think might be finally his year) or stevie J.

I like you starting rucks..McCaffer i'm tossing up with him.. Not convinced will get a regular game and i'm a pie fan.

overal like your side...Have not checked with byes, but don't get caught up with that issue as your side will be different by then.

mpollock

Yeah, Scotland, Bock and NicNac are all on my watch list as they may miss the start of the season.
No interest in Duffield or Reilly ... or injury prone Rioli or brain fade prone Sylvia.

I can't believe the lack of love for big Dean Cox ... as a forward who consistently averages 110 and can be swapped into the ruck and may be the solo ruck man early in the season i think he is a must.

I have Adams for two reasons ... one he is a good break out candidate and two he is a DPP.
Will watch him in the NAB cup however ... far from locked.

Cheers.
