Jack Trengove

Stats
2011 Games: 19

2011 Ave: 87.7

2012 Games: 22

2012 Ave: 74.9

Centuries: 3

FanPlanner Price: $397,800

Age: 21

Position: Midfield

Thoughts
The number 2 pick in the 2009 draft struggled for form in 2012 as he took on the role of captaincy along with Jack Grimes. He started the year well posting scores of 104 and 112 in the opening two rounds, but it was downhill from there as he only managed to break the ton one more time while having a worrying ten scores under 70. As for the positives in 2011 he averaged a promising 87 (second of the top 15 picks of 09’), Jack is a great tackler and a strong contested ball winner and looked poised to break out in season 2012, but was seemingly weighed down by a horrid year for Melbourne and the extreme pressures of becoming captain in his third year.

Verdict
I think he will bounce back this year with some experienced recruits to relieve some of the pressures along with natural improvement, but at that price there are probably better options to take a gamble on.

Prediction
Improvement no doubt. 91

Nice work Shorty!
Another year under his belt and hopefully the captaincy won't affect him as I like him, but I wouldn't pick him in your SC side as the Mids are not where you should take risks

Thanks!
yeh exactly, improvement, but not worthy of a midfield spot, too risky.

Speculator

Unfortunately no. Especially not when Luke Ball is available for less cash. Nice work shorty.

quinny88

Definitely not. His football has suffered since being given the pressure of captaincy.
21 year olds should still be learning the game and there own style of play not having the weight of a struggling club put on their shoulders

I dont mind this pick. 400k is not a bad price for someone I see averaging low-90s

Will monitor his pre-season closely.

Adamant

The captaincy really affected him this year. He should bounce back, but cant see him being a viable option just yet. Mabye in 2014.

For anyone that was considering him, it has been reported that he will wear a moonboot for the next 6 weeks after scans found stress fractures in his foot

yeh, not improving enough for a midfield spot, but I do love how he goes about his footy.

dmac07

No for me, agree he will lift into the 90s range this year bit not enough reward for me.

The_Captain

Maybe in a few years. Seems to be struggling to take it to that next level at the moment!
