R.I.P. Tony - Enjoyed your early battles with DK Lillee, took on Australia as English Captain with agression. Loved you as a player and captain.  Your transferred this to the commentary box and was not afraid to shoot from the hip.  Will leave a big hole in the commentary team

Condolences to his wife and family.

wow he must've got pretty bad pretty quickly... very sad but he was a wonderful player and commentator and will be missed.

Expect a big tribute from the commentators in Sydney

Tominator

Yeh it is mate, 9 had a half hour tribute to him tonight at 6.30 and by the sound of it all the team were looking forward to him popping his head in the box health willing as he just had some more Chemo. Thomo spoke to him just before Xmas day i think he said and Tony seemed pretty good according to him and was in total disbelief when told Tony had passed away at 1.45 today. They will all miss him a great deal and spoke very fondly of him, Bill is shattered poor bugger as they became great mates after getting off to a firey start they became very close, he said when Tony 1st joined them in the box the 1st thing he said to Bill was arent you the Aussie Captain who lost 4 tests to Sth Africa in which Bill replied yes and werent you Englands Captain who walked away for money. Somehow they got passed that and as i said became great mates. None of the team went to Tonys favourite Fish Restaurant in Hobart as they always would during the Hobart tests as they all wanted to go when Tony was better and back with them, gotta say that bit got to me a little. They very much loved the big fella one and all. Sydney will be very difficult for them on day one knowing Tony wont be coming back again. If your friends and colleagues speak of you as they did Tony when you pass you would of done well in life i think.  :(
