Trent McKenzie is a player that really interests me. After showing a lot of promise in his first season he stagnated in 2012. But with D positioning coming his way and an 8 game stretch where he averaged 80.63 to finish the season Trent could be a bit of a smokey in 2013.

If he is utilised correctly by GC in 2013 I can definitely see him breaking an 80 average and potentially going beyond that.

That being said even if he could lift his average whether or not it's worth it is questionable, there are other guys around his price range (Hurley, Atley, Conca, Hombsch, Smith, Yarran) and you wouldn't need to free up much cash to turn him into a premium defender. You'd need to be extremely confident that he was ready to have a full break out to warrant the selection, and even then he tends to be a better scorer in DT.

He's one I'll be watching in NAB, and any defender with the potential to average over 80 (especially 20 year olds) can be considered, but I just can't justify taking this risk for the payoff.

Isn't listed as a defender in fanplanner but I think he should be named down back. Should. :-X
