Thoughts
Whitfield has been touted has the best young talent in the land for some time and it was no surprise to see him taken as the number one pick by GWS. He possesses great foot skills on either side, speed and endurance and is a strong over head mark, he was an All Australian at NAB Under-18 Championship level in 2011 he then backed it up this year winning the Larke Medal (best division 1 player in U18’S Championships) averaging 23.2 disposals. Whitfield is a hard running midfielder and will step straight into the GWS line-up and will hope to have a quality pre-season given he is still quite a light frame in AFL terms.

Verdict
Will get plenty of opportunity, and is a silky smooth midfielder but given he is the number one pick and is priced 80K more than most other youngsters I would be wary of that, he is still needs some time in the gym and GWS will again cop beltings each week. I won’t be picking him simply because of his price, there is always bargain basement gems in the midfield.

The pressure of being the #1 is too immense, doubt we'll see a player live up to the tag in their first season for quite some time. Also comes with a slightly higher price point, definitely not going to go there. :-X

Yeah, not at that price.

I started with Coniglio last year, and got burned with several rooks outscoring him for way cheaper. Wont be getting any premium priced rooks again.
