Will Matthew Pavlich play against Melbourne?

It is enough to make SuperCoaches pull out their hair.

The word out of the west is he is still 50-50.

The Dockers won't risk him if they don't have to and it may depend on other results.

If Geelong beats Sydney then the Dockers can’t finish higher than seventh or lower than eighth, so why risk Pav?

In fact, they almost have an incentive to lose so they can play at home against the Eagles (assuming West Coast loses to Hawthorn) in the first final.

But if Sydney causes an upset then Freo can jump to sixth and host a home final with a big win â€" so surely Pav will play against Dees, and he could kick 10.

It could be a big factor in many SuperCoach grand finals. Our advice - make sure you have an emergency just in case.

Not the same article but...

QuoteFREMANTLE skipper Matthew Pavlich is likely to play against Melbourne on Saturday night despite sitting out training this morning.

Pavlich did some goalkicking by himself before the session, but did not join his teammates as they went through their paces at Fremantle Oval.

The 30-year-old Coleman medal leader was a late withdrawal from the Dockers side that defeated North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium on Sunday with leg soreness.

"We'll pick him. He trained on Tuesday, we'll manage him today. He's really confident and determined to play,'' Lyon said.

"There's a little bit to play out yet but we'll certainly name him, it will be pretty similar to last week I would imagine.''

The Dockers could be in a position to choose which finals opponent they have in the first week if they find themselves well in front of the Demons, because percentage will determine where they finish.

If Geelong defeats Sydney earlier in the day to remove the possibility of sixth place for Fremantle, many believe it could be advantageous for the Dockers to finish eighth rather than seventh if that meant staying in Perth to play West Coast in an elimination final.

But Lyon insisted Melbourne could be a dangerous opponent and said he would give no thought to manipulating ladder positions.

If Geelong loses and North Melbourne beats Greater Western Sydney, Fremantle would know the margin it would need to win by to secure a home final.

"There's a really good lesson isn't there, they beat Essendon earlier in the year, they've won a few games and they have improved,'' Lyon said.

"And they'll come over with no burden of expectation and really have a free swing at it.

"All results or potential results are a distraction, so just control what we can.

"I think you're making assumptions we're going to control the game (on) gameday, I can tell you this one: there are no easy games of AFL footy.

"You're making an assumption we've won the game. We'll focus purely on every minute of the game trying to be the best that we can be.

"We just want to play finals. We don't care where it is, against who it is. All I know is that if you muck around with your form and you take your eye off the ball, you blink and you've lost a bottom of the ladder team.''

As for Adelaide's...

QuoteGUN Adelaide forward Taylor Walker is in doubt for tomorrow’s clash against Gold Coast at AAMI Stadium with a hip injury.

Walker â€" Adelaide’s leading goalkicker this year with 53 â€" did not join his teammates for this morning’s 45-minute session at AAMI Stadium.

He instead spent the morning working indoors on his "touch".

Crows assistant coach Scott Camporeale said Walker was nursing minor hip soreness and a decision on whether he plays against the Suns will not be made until tomorrow morning.

"Taylor’s just a little bit sore," Camporeale said.

Living in the world of 'Tex'
"So he spent time indoors doing some touch work. Tex (Walker) is an important player for us and we have to make sure we get him right for the finals, so we will make a call on him in the morning."

If Walker is ruled out of the side, he is expected to be replaced by former Saint Tom Lynch.
