Would you be happy with this team going into the finals with 1 trade left and about 30K? Now before you say 1 trade left, you're finished, have a look at the bench cover:

B: Goddard, Deledio, Birchall, Suckling, Broughton, Heppell, Lake (Yarran, Spurr)
M: Ablett, Pendlebury, Watson, Selwood, Boyd, Priddis (Sylvia, Gibson)
R: Cox, Campbell (Redden, Stephenson)
F: Franklin, Sidebottom, Pavlich, Johnson, Martin, Harvey, Zorko (Kennedy, Sexton)

As you can see I have Yarran as back-up for the backline so if somebody gets injured i dont need to make a trade staright away because i have a premium as cover

Then in my midfield and forward line i have a link with sylvia in the midfield and zorko, kennedy and sexton in the forward line. This means that i have the choice of who to start as my 7th forward each week out of sylvia and zorko. If somebody misses in my midfield, i put sylvia/zorko there and i still pretty much have a full team. If somebody misses in my forward line i can also put sylvia/zorko tehre for cover and still field a team of premiums. If someone misses in my forward line and midfield, i will still have no donuts as i have cover (gibson, kennedy, sexton) but i just wont have a full team (of premiums)

The only worry with this team is my rucks. Cox is fine, but Campbell is a worry as R2 and stephenson and redden are unlikely to get games, which means if cox or campbell dont play, that is where i will be likely to use my remaining trade as i have cover in all other positions

So, what do u think?? I know its an interesting strategy and it is risky, but it could pay off and im keen to do it. Rip my strategy to shreds, tear it apart, i dont care, just give me some feedback :)

Cheers ;)

I voted yes, although your rucks is a big worry and obviously having only one trade is a HUGE risk so its upto you

Spinking

Looking good. Rucks obviously a bit weak, and missing Swan which could hurt you. Otherwise quite strong - obviously hurting a bit with a number of outs this week though!

SydneyRox

the one trade is going to kill you. You have a fair few outs this week.

The rucks are an obvious issue, Campebll will hopefully continue to play but Redden and O are both going to struggle

Good luck

... although I did hear the big O had a BOG in the magoos... 30+ touches and a couple of goals... with the Cats' rucks hardly setting the world on fire he could get a recall soon.

cheers for the replys guys

just to let you know this is a planned team for next week and atm i actually have 4 trades left... but i am keen on this idea on getting sylvia and yarran in on the bench and then have 1 one trade left which i will only need to use if there is a LOT of outs in one week... but yeah still havnt convinced myself to do it

Tominator

agree with everything in the above comments so I'm gonna repeat it ;D

rucks are a big concern but your other three lines are really solid. Some of the Port greats (Francou, Tredrea) are calling for Redden to be #1 ruck but Primus doesn't listen to critics more often than not (so he gets more critics instead!) and with that in mind I doubt Redden will become #1 ruck, this year at least

But if you cop an LTI you're in trouble. I'd hold that final trade as long as you can and don't use it unless you really have to. With a bit of luck that team should get you to finals alright

Capper

Sylvia is a waste on the bench whilst your rucks are weak

Tominator

you say you have four trades left now... what are your planned trades?

+1. I like the idea of bench flexibility with Sylva, but I would fix rucks first

fever

it's a good team, but you would've actively chosen the cox/campbell ruck combo recently (presumably you downgraded giles or kreuz to upgrade elsewhere last week or the week before) and that is a really bad choice and one that could ultimately cost you. so i voted no.

edit: also having 1 trade left 4 weeks out is bad management, regardless of injuries.

BigBob

keep your trades cos anything can and will happen in the next few weeks.
Then, if LTI's don't get you, in a few weeks put your cash into players who will be on the field, not on the bench. Cash on the bench is a waste when it comes to final
