How does one actually gain a DT score for a tackle? doe the tackle have to result in a turn over or a stoppage? or does he just have to "attempt" to tackle.... im so confused with this scoring aspect of DT. can anyone help me

Spinking

Tackle has to result in a stoppage.  If more than one player is doing the tackle they usually give the points to the bloke who got in first.

Artax

If they gave points for attempting to tackle then behinds would be worth 6 for attempting to kick a goal

I highly doubt that as you see a massive tackle from someone and then ball skews out 2 seconds with no stoppage if you know what I mean. I'm pretty sure it is still a tackle as it dispossess the opponent.

Spinking

Yep, that's right sorry.  Dispossession will do the job too.

JamSainter

Yeah but a stoppage is just as good!  ;D

its me lads

sometimes when your getting desperate for the points, someone you have sticks one arm out and then you say "yep i'll pay that 4 points" hahaha. if it is a clear tackle then they get it.

speaking of scoring if someone kicks it out on the full is it +3 for the kick then -3 for the free against or is it just -3?

Its actually just a +3 for the kick as Out on the Full is not considered a free against for some reason. For example, in the 2nd qtr before, selwood kicked it out on the full and 30 seconds later had a +3

Incorrect. Im surprised at the amount of stats padding that occurs by champion data and also surprised it has taken some people this long to figure it out. Last week zorko and rockliff both tackled a player and both got 4 points despite the rule of "gang tackles" not counting. depends what the definition of a gang tackle is but a 2 v 1 tackle scenario seems like a gang tackle to me. basically tackles will be awarded to fantasy relevant players CD are likely to have. These types of errors occur week in week out though so it is not uncommon. Gonna suck when it comes down to a close 1 point game.

Dont believe me re watch the brisbane game from last week. Also they gave rockliff an extra handball last week. handballed the ball after the siren and still got awarded +2.

Relevant link for the added rockliff handball (skip to the last goal of quater 1 and watch the last minute or so. Looks like handball is clearly after siren)

Also tackles may be counted if they cause a turn over. So if tackle sticks and opposition turns it over/kicks it out on the full they get a +4.

The judgment of a tackle is somewhat subjective so while you may think one tackle should be counted another may disagree.

EDIT- FOR REAL DEFINITION

Tackles are recorded when a player stops an opposition player with possession of the ball from getting his kick or handball away in a legal manner. The tacklers action must change the course of play. A tackle will be recorded if a player is legally pushed off his kick or handball resulting in that possession going directly to the opposition or out of bounds on the full. Tackles are NOT recorded if laid in a scrimmage play and / or gang tackles and results in a ball up. A tackle is NOT recorded when in laying a tackle illegally a free kick is conceded.

champion data is bullcrap!
Half of Chapman's tackles were in 'scrimmages'!

TheHanger

Basically a tackle counts when it affects the ball carrier, so if a player wraps up the ball carrier, but the ball carrier just handballs as if they weren't tackled then tackle doesn't count

so if it is a tiny tackle but stops the ball carrier from doing what they intended to do (such as handballing instead of kicking) it is +4

henry

The last part isn't right, a tackle is definetly awarded if their is a resukting ball up. In summary, 4 points is awarded when a tackle leads to dispossesion, a turnover or a stoppage. I think that's right.

Wah wah waaah

There wouldnt be a fantasy game without CD.
There is human bias in anything subjective, it's minimal in this instance imo
