AEPL 2011/12 GRAND FINAL - Draw/Trade Discussion/Analysis

Grand Final
SuperRadioactive Saints vs The Brown Trumpets @ The Amusement Park
Trades must be completed before midnight 11th May, teams must be in by midnight 12 May.


So he were are guys, the grand final!!  ;D
This season it is being contested (and rightly so) by the minor premier (Saints) and the highest scoring team in the league (Trumpets). So who can hold their nerve and win just one final match to be crowned AEPL champions? Well we will find out the answer to that next Monday (possibly Tuesday), in the mean time we can just speculate. Will RVP and Tevez fire the Trumpets to victory or will it be the strike duo of Rooney and Jelavic that gets the Saints the win?

A look back at their 4 matches this season may help answer these questions...

Round 9 - Trumpets 39 vs 29 Saints
Round 18 - Saints 41 vs 42 Trumpets
Round 27 - Trumpets 33 vs 36 Saints
Round 36 - Saints 81 vs Trumpets 85

So the Trumpets hold a 3-1 lead over the Saints going in to the final, with their most recent match just 2 rounds ago! Looking at the results we can conclude that this should be a tight affair, with just 18 points separating the teams throughout the 4 matches!!

Now I hand it over to the public to voice their opinions on who they think has the edge. As a reminder there is no home ground advantage, whilst the grand final venue was chosen at random.

From the looks of it I think more of BS's players performed (including captain), but DG has Boyce who scored 2 goals as a defender...

i had terry who scored as a defender.. and also jones who will come on for cahill and got an assist and clean sheet

jelavic also scored and rooney but not many other plays did anything :P

The games have been played, the scores checked and now the result is in!!!!


In an extremely close final the final score was as small as it could possibly be, with the winning team winning with a score of 57-56!!! :o

oh WOW! i dont know what to say! Id like to thank my mum....

No seriously, cheers again CF for running a great comp, and to all competitors, especially BS for being such a tough competitor in one of the best GFs ever seen!

Now onto the players, there is always an unlikely hero come GF day, and Emmerson Boyce was that man this year  :o. Great efforts from Vorm off the bench, and thanks to some horrible keeping, Koscielny also managed a few points!  ;D

You are the deserving winner DG, you were the highest scoring team for the year so deserved to win the final. You got lucky though cos if BS had Dzeko sub 2 instead of Pedersen then he would have won 60-57! But yes I think you can thank Boyce for you win this year ;)
