How soon to get Ablett back?

How soon are you guys looking at bringing Ablett back in if you traded him?

My scenario is I can do two downgrades this week, then next week be able to grab a premium forward for Devon Smith and bring Ablett back in for Shiel, leaving me with no money in the bank. My problem is due to having pretty much every injured player in the AFL, this would mean I've technically only done one upgrade.

Not getting Ablett right away and picking up Mitchell for around 520k next week would leave me with a cool 200k in the bank to use to upgrade Bugg/Giles/Porplyzia or someone like that.

Question is, should getting Ablett back in be priority number one? Or do we wait for the Gold Coast to play a hard team where Ablett may not score as well and pick him up if his price drops?

Listening to the gurus on the Supercoach Show.  Jay Clark was the only one who was keeping Ablett as of last Thursday night.   The guys name escapes me, but he is the one with the fair hair who generally sits next to the guest player, his team is ranked in the top 1%.  He has insiders at every club, and his words were that he was trading Ablett and hoping to pick him up later for approx $630-$640k.  He was of the opinion that initially Ablett would struggle with the twisting and turning required to play 4 quarters in the midfield.  He may take a few weeks before he is back to his best, so he was prepared to wait.

These are someone elses thoughts, so please no one shoot the messenger here.  the Ablett scenario is one of individual choice, so I guess it depends on the personal needs of your own team.

Due to the expected price rise of rookies such as Shiel, Magner, Smith, JMac, Cameron, and this weeks bubble boys, Horsley and Adams, you WILL be able to buy Ablett back at some stage, so there is no need to panic.  Do NOT let anyone tell you taht yuou wont be able to afford him.  He is no different than anyone else, and if you traded him out, chances are you will have some cash in teh bank already.

At what time you buy him back will be your own personal choice, and if he goes up slightly in price, this will be well and truly negated by the larger price rise of your rookies.

Some great points there guys, thanks!

I think the best thing for my team will be to grab Mitchell and use the 200k to get an extra premium in the backline. Means that the money I made from trading Ablett has helped me get 2 extra premiums.

That sounds great at first glance, but that's really only the top 4,000 :P
Now, the top 0.01% would be much more impressive :P

yeah thats what i would have thought most would have done when trading out ablett. seems a bit desperate trading him out for only 2 weeks before getting him back in.

Insightful as always Bottlemart and well expressed..

The one thing we must remember though is that this is Garry Ablett, the little master, a supercoach points scorer of the highest order.

If he comes out and gets a couple of 150 plus scores, you may be buying him back at around $750,000 plus the price of numerous trades needed to get him in out and in again.

As you rightly point out, it's a personal decision for each coach

Thanks Free Kick.

Yeah it was a tough decision to make.  I at first was keeping Ablett, then decided to trade him for JPK, with the view to get Pendles next week, both players hopefully at discount to where they probably should be.

It was hard to hit the trade button for the great man.  I felt as though I was telling my son that it was time for him to leave home, but on Friday I closed my eyes and made the trade, along with a forward upgrade.  the result was another win which gives me a 4-0 record, rather than risk a 3-1.

I have the cash to get him back and you are correct, he could easily get 150 this week.  He's a must have for seasons end and the sooner the better.  I'll have to make that decision based on how he plays when he returns, and certainly he could cost me more, but hopefully the gains made in the meantime are worthwhile.

I think there are no right or wrong answers with Ablett.  The ones who kept him did the right thing and saved the trade, and hopefully the ones who traded him get the benefit aswell in way of a win, and or, getting another premium or 2 at a discounted price.
