Long time Lurker, first time Poster...

I posted this earlier in BigFooty but this is probably a more appropriate thread.
I made two draft teams... one with GAZ and one without... then I thought 'don't be stupid' and dumped the team without him.

BACKS
Enright (or Newman?)
Fisher (better pull his finger out)
Hodge
Gilbee (better not have any other ill family members)
Ladson
Hunt
Sheppard (just going with the crowd on this one)

Emergencies: 94K & 94K (haven't got much idea at the moment)

MIDS
Ablett
Gibbs
Pendlebury
Cooney
Palmer
D. Martin (or whoever looks best of the 1st rounders)

Emergencies: Bastinac & Tapscott

RUCK
Sandilands
Hille (I've got a bad feeling he will be injured or just plain average)

Emergencies: Lobbe & Trengrove (lets hope Brogan finds his first love and quits to play basketball)

FORWARDS
Delido
Pavlich (or perhaps J.Brown?)
Frankiln (c'mon poser)
Harvey (old man better come good)
Murphy
Dangerfield
J. Trengrove (or perhaps Watts?.. feels strange to have so many Demon options)

Emergencies: Davis & Dennis-Lane

I'm most worried about Hille (didn't look good before got injured in 09) and Murphy (seems to be after a new job as a journalist).

Great team, one of the best I've seen.  Great read on Gilbee, sick dad last year didn't help.  I'd only make two changes:  Hunt to Kennelly and Hille to possibly Kreuzer.  Maybe Pendlebury to VInce who I think will dominate this year.

THE WARDEN

mate, shower form for dogging gilbee cos of his old man. shower call

@warden

What are you talking about?  It's a fact of life, last year his dad was sick and the worry concerned with all that probably affected his football.  Nobody's dogging Gilbee,  I think he's a great player, I had him last year and I'll have him again this year.
It's a big, bad world we live in, mate, better get used to it.

You will have to ditch Palmer to bring a decent 2nd ruck in most likely, Hille will struggle I reckon, big men and knee's need time. Don't see the point in Palmer anyway TBH, or any other Mid pricer(in the centers) for that matter. Pick the right rookies to start with and they will average you 65 - 80 in the mids, prolly nearly as much as a mid priced player.

Kennelly is gonna cost more that $241k but could still be an ok pick. Nothing wrong with Ladson and Hunt though, just pre season them.

Port rucks are a good idea at 3 an 4.

Like your team, Goodluck.

Just on Gilbee, point scoring has been in decline for a few years now, definite trend there, also sharing points with Hargrave, Harbrow and Lake so be cautious in selecting him.

Yes he had issues last year, tough year for him, but there's a reason you wont find any doggies players in the top ten across any line, team is to even

I agree from a SC point of view (less so in DT), it's better to get in a rookie to make cash, although players like Palmer etc can be considered keepers also.

I think it's best to look at how well you use your trades.  If you hold your trades well, then go for rookies as you'll have the trades to get them out and make cash to upgrade elsewhere.  If you tend to have a history of burning trades, then go for the midpricer - at least you can get a decent score in finals with them in your team.

Thanks for the advice everyone.

Seriously considering dumping Hille but will probably have to downgrade Palmer to rookie or Gibbs/Pendles to Vince to do so.
Have to consider the advice about Gilbee's team mates taking his points... but he's at a good price and averaged over 90 I think in 08.
Anyone know any likely prospects among the 94K backs?

Why don't you look at downgrading Boomer to a mid-price/first round rookie and then use the cash to upgrade Hille to Kreuzer.

Don't see a problem holding Gilbee, nice price, could pay off, its the chance you take. Watch his NAB cup, see what roles are being played.

Listen, I would love to have Hille in my team, free's up 175k to play with, but I doubt he is going to be good to go from the start(with regard to point scoring) so he is not in my team. After the NAB cup, if he plays, I could change my mind :)

With Otten out at the crows, a window is now open for someone, Davis, Mckernan, Petenko, see what happens NAB cup.

We are only guessing with rookies, we will all know a lot more in 8 weeks :)
