GREATER Wester Sydney midfielder Taylor Adams has been charged by police with assault after an altercation in Geelong in January.

Giants chief executive David Matthews said the club had been awaiting the outcome of an investigation since January when the club announced Adams was assisting police with their inquiries.

“Taylor has indicated to the club that he will exercise all his legal rights. As it is now a legal matter and will go before the courts, the club has no further comment at this time,” Matthews said.

Adams, who played with the Geelong Falcons in the under 18 TAC Cup competition, was drafted by the Giants for their inaugural year as pick No.13.

A hard running, strong ball clearer, Adams was rated by several clubs as the most impressive interviewee at the draft camp with one national recruiting manager declaring him a future AFL captain.

He represented Vic Country at the AFL under 18 championships and he earned All Australian honours.
