CARLTON'S Sam Rowe will take a significant step in his return to football from a cancer battle when he competes in the Sydney City2Surf fun run on Sunday.

"I'm going really well, I've been training for about a month, everything else [to with my health] has been perfect," Rowe told teammate Jeremy Laidler on CFCTV on the club's website on Friday.

"I'm starting to feel quite fit again, which is good. I'm starting to get a bit of fitness back and starting to feel pretty good.
