Ryder is a star, a gun
And his scores this year will be great

BUT

Without Hille Ryder loses alot of scoring capability, and it gets even worse when Bellchambers is in the team. Bellchambers isn't as good a forward as Hille, so he plays more in the ruck and Ryder spends more time in the forward line

Look at Ryder's scores:
128 (With Hille all game)
112 (Hille only start of game, no Bellchambers)
91 (Bellchambers all game)

Now these are still good scores but not as good as 128, Hille will be back soon and Ryder will  pick up soon, wait for Hille's return, then pick up Ryder

More Info:
Look at Ryders hitout count -
Round 1: 33
Round 2: 46
Round 3: 11

Tyes

Good stuff mate, hoping to grab Ryder after his bye if he keeps up this form.

crabapples

Nice one mate, nothin like the stats!

camtinley

Thanks for that info. I'll keep an eye out since I was planning on putting Ryder in.

good research, they are numbers that confirm my suspicion. Unfortunately for me I already have him...had quiet a few nearly marks against GCS so could and probably should have tonned up again.

Still reckon' he'll go along ~90-95 with Bellchambers before EXPLODING with the return of Hille, 4-5 weeks to go!

Yeah no doubt he will still score well, but won't reach his full potential with Belly in the side
IMHO the Bombers should trade Bellchambers because he does not work with Ryder, who is the future Ruckman for Essendon, they will get a good trade for Belly. its a big call though

hardnut

they obviously want two genuine talls in the forward line but as you say Ryder is so impressive as a lone ruckman it almost worth leaving Bellchambers out. If bloody useless Gumbelton was EVER fit they would probably do just that

Nice research, good work.

I wasn't thinking of getting him(rucks are doing okay with McEvoy :-\ and Giles :))

He's got burn burn burn written all over him.
I think he's burnt people before but i betcha many will still trade him in(probably mostly rookie coaches though).
He could be a nice gamble paying off though, you have to admit(famous last words?)

...

what im seeing is him posting a solid score without many hit outs?

I've been DTing for 6 years so by no means a rookie and I have him, the thing that swayed me is he's only 24 so now entering the ruckmen sweet-spot. I was sure he was older than that as seems to have been around forever. Essendon are on the up (although injuries could screw them) and he has some much ability around the ground. I actually think he has as much or more ability than Kruezer.

The point of this is that you can't assume players (especially ruckmen) will never improve. McEvoy is a classic example.

yeah, I agree he can score well without hitouts, I am not saying he is doing badly or you should never pick him, but wait till Hille gets back, he can and should EXPLODE

That's three games... Not enough to show a particular trend, get on board if you want to ;)

Yeah but the same sort of thing happened last year, as an Essendon supporter I can tell just from watching previous games that Bellchambers doesn't work well with Ryder, he cramps his style
