Matthew Lobbe

Dees for the Draft

Lobbe is a Port ruckman/forward.

Williams has already marked him for a ruck position in round 1.

I'm still waiting to hear more about Suban.  I heard reports of him tearing it up about a month ago, but haven't heard anything since.

Watts is cheap and a supercoach player, so I'd take him over a rookie.  He's already put on 6kgs and should be a guarantee to get a fair few games as long as he doesn't get injured.

Ellis and Walker are both very talented players, being taken at 4 and 2 in the draft but just need to get a good pre-season under their belt to battle injuries.  From reports, Walker has been having a good pre-season, although the suspension and no NAB Cup makes it a bit tougher to get a reading on him.

As for Yarran, he was hyped up prior to the 2008 draft, with some phantom drafts having him going at as high as number 2.  He didn't have a great season last year, but had a great game near the end of the year that showed his talent.  With no Fev, he could kick more goals, and I get the feeling he could get more of a rotation though the midfield.

Your thoughts?

Nice report Dees  ;D

I might pick Lobbe up myself.  ???

I had suban last year and he wasn't that good, Freo have a lot of players to come back in this year and also have McPhee to fit in.

I am not sold on Watts, so much hype last year for nothing. I see more $ in rookies for upgrades. Same as Yarren.

Reports are Walker won't play round 1 maybe more so you don't want to cop a donut. Ellis was average at best last year.

I think the blues will adopted a west coast game plan this year where the mids tear it up and shoot on goal more then a forward focus. Seems to have work for them. lol

Yeah good team Dees.

Ellis is handy but I think he handballs to much and he could get higher scores if he kicks more often. Maybe Ladson could be a better option? just a thought. And Walker is a risk with injury and has alot of talent for sure but cant string it on the field. I was on him early on but not so much now. I mean he is tearing it up in pre-season running great times and he lets himself down with the drink.

Good midfield I guess it be interesting to see how Cotchin goes during pre-season havnt heard much though his ankle is getting better yeah? They saying he be ready for Round 1? He will be good, I vision him as a little Gary Ablett similar traits and the way he moves abit when he runs anyone else noticed that or is it just me?  ;D Be good to see how he goes this year and doesnt re-injure himself again.

And im not sold on Watts either, but he will get more chances in 2010 to show his stuff which will be good to see - as I have said on other posts I still think he will rely lots on leading to the ball to get his touches and the delivery will have to be good for him, he will get the 1st or 2nd best defender on him most likely.

Ladson is one who I'm considering.

Ellis is cheap after an ordinary team last year, and the handball/kicking thing is more of a DT problem than a SC issue, in that effective handballs and handballs under pressure can score more than a kick.

I'm also considering Masten ahead of Cotchin, I'll have a look at both of them in pre-season.
