I have $6k left in bank. I realise I am playing a lot of rookies on the ground in fwds. This is where i am hoping i can upgrade using cash cows.

ronl

Hi
A pretty good team.  Couple of things to work on.  I think Cornes' best football is behind him.  You know you have too many rookies up forwardand  there's no guarantee any of them will get regular games early, so it's a big risk and I think you'd end up copping some donuts.  One area where you could gain some dollars is downgrading Cornes to a cheaper option.  Plus, you've got six or seven premium priced rookies, if you downgraded 3 of those you should have enough to afford a mid-priced forward who is guaranteed regular games ie Dangerfield, Mayne, Vespremi etc. In addition, a Pendlebury downgrade to someone like Palmer or McVeigh would get you some more extra dollars to beef up your forward ine.  Hope that makes sense.

Hawks_1976

I agree with Ronl.
Get rid of Cornes, best is past him in a rebuilding side.
Look for a mid pricer/ cash cow here like Simon Buckley or Josh Hunt.
Also agree with a mid priced midfielder to free up further cash. Perhaps an Armitage or Palmer here.
Then bolster the forwards as suggested.

You want to keep an eye on how Hille is travelling, rumour is he may not be ready for round 1.

Chad was a great pickup last year because he was so cheap, now that he is priced at $405k I dont think the value is there to have him in your side.  Doughty, Goodwin, James Kelly or Embley (he has been training well) may be options at this price range.

Also want to keep an eye on the Voldt during pre-season/NAB Cup.  If he doesnt have a good pre-season he may be worth an upgrade target during the first half of the season.

I have $16,600 left in bank.

Will be interesting to see if Simon Buckley gets a game time at pies - does anybody know how he is going?

Would Palmer be a better choice than Cotchin?

What are thoughts on above team?

footsteps

Palmer over Cotchin is a yes for me.

Cotchin is pretty injury prone and hasn't really set the DT world alight.

Palmer started last year pretty well so you would expect him to bounce back pretty quickly.

On Buckley, he is a must if he looks to have found a spot in the pies 22, but imo he doesn't have one, plus he didn't go to Arizona as he is still in rehab.

valkorum

I also agree about Palmer over Cotchin.

I have $102,000 left in bank. Maybe good to have some cash in bank to upgrade Martin and Scully to GAJ and Swan.

Thoughts on the above team?

Kangamagic

I like your defence but Im not keen on Buckley.

Midfield is strong.

Rucks arent to bad though I did like your earlier version with Sandilands in there. Could you do a Sandilands/H-Mac ruck combo? I know you will have to search for the money to get big Sandilands back in there.

I noticed the forward line has 3 rookie Kangaroo players. I would keep Cunnington as he should play alot of games and Bastinac should play a few games also. Black im not to sure on.
Luke Tapscott is a good bench option he should play games for the Dees.
Though a good start still.

Magic

Thanks Magic

Not sure where i can find the money to get HMAC and Sandi !!! (would love to have them both).

What are peoples thoughts on best ruck combination under $700,000 (for 2 on field rucks)?

footsteps

If you can get Sandi with Hille as a back up, then grab Lobbe and Warnock you should have no issues imo.

Rucks are for me an area I hate wasting trades on, durable rucks are the key, if you can get Sandi and Kruezer/Tippet, but if you can't Hille is pretty durable other than the obvious knee.

nas

Sandi / Kreuzer.

Res:- Skipper & Lobbe

I have $109,700 left in bank.

I plan to use the cash to trade in Swan, GAJ, N Reiwoldt and Cox (and another prem defender) in the side. Think these players are good upgrade options given huge prices.

Thoughts on above side?

footsteps

Gun rookie can go either way.

You will do awesome if your rookies put together 7-9 games but you will struggle if they only play 3-4 games and get dropped. Thats the risk you take when starting 6 rookies. Ill be starting 4 max in my team, and even then I'm worried.

The other issue is downgrade targets. Players like Ryan Bastinac and Lewis Jetta might not play until round 6-10 and therefore become perfect downgrade targets. Due a little research into a bloke name Mitch Banner, he is a beauty and with the injury to Rodan he will get an opportunity.

matho23

@ footsteps - yeh i have the same worry. However, i want to get my side fairly stacked with prem players. Last year I had mid priced players that did not have the consistency. Generally the mid priced players, despite playing consistent games, are mid priced for a reason - they average mid/low scores.

I am going to wait for NAB cup to select the rookies I hope will play early games. Thanks for the tip on Banner - will watch to see how he goes in NAB.
