Is it harder to put together a DT squad than SC?

Here is an inital squad for DT, still plenty of time for adjustments.
I always seem to find it hard to put together a DT, salary cap is less than
SC, I can never fit as many "premiums" into my inital DT squad.

Anyway here is a team for you to all criticise!  ;D

B : A.Carrazzo, S.Fisher, L.Hodge, A.Mackie, S.Buckley, R.Ladson, P.Davis
[ J.Trengove, D.Grimes ]
M : D.Swan, G.Ablett, B.Dalziell, D.Armitage, R.Palmer, D.Martin
[ J.Strauss, S.Blease ]
R : A.Sandilands, D.Hille [ T.West, M.Lobbe ]
F : N.Riewoldt, A.Didak, B.Delidio, P.Dangerfield, C.Yarran, P.Veszpremi, B.Cunnington [ L.Johnston, R.Tarrant ]

Hawker,

Not a bad team first up some pretty good selections so i cant really criticise to much  ;D
Hopefully Dylan Grimes gets picked up I see him on your bench and if he does he will be a rookie listed player of course.

Im trying to do a DT one but it doesnt have the salary cap on it? maybe I'm in the wrong area who knows  ::) I have selected some players but it doesnt have a salary counter on it like the supercoach one has.

Cheers magic,

I'm taking a guess that Dylan Grimes will get taken with pick 2 in the preseason draft which will land him on Richmond's senior list.

As for putting together a team the cap is $7,962,500.

I just copied and pasted the prices from fanplanner onto Excel, then its much easier to chop and change your side around ( hope you don't mind Monty! )

I feel like my forward line is a bit underdone with only 3 premiums.
But I've actually spent a "fair" amount there.

As a strategy I like to split my salary cap the following way,
30% backline, 30% midfield, 10% ruck and 30% forwards.

My split for this side is 28/31/10/31.

Thanks Hawker I'll have a look at it and come up with a DT side for this season like i said i have already started it briefly and I think it should be okay.

Do you think Yarran will have a good year? Im not to sure about him - he didn't really show much in his first year, I guess with all the hype he didn't really set the world on fire but I know its only his first year so I shouldnt be to harsh on him  ;D

After a troubled start to the year on and off the field, I hear Yarran absolutely tore it up for the Bullants late in the season and into their finals campaign. With Fev gone, they need goals from somewhere, I'm not suggesting he will kick bags but a return of 30 goals next year in the Navy Blue would be a good result I think.

Eddie Betts had a good year this season his best year to date. I think its good that Carlton got rid of Fev - Its good to have a key forward in your team but midfield is so important also and their group is pretty good at Carlton and thats where the goals will come from with Murphy, Gibbs, Judd, McLean kicking goals is crucial to help for a good score to win games for them.

Prospector_1

No Betts!

With the Prospectus in hand, DT is easier to put a team together, because it has focussed mainly on DT up to now.

I think the tighter salary cap is one of the important reasons that I prefer the challenge of DT to SC.

Watch for that to change if the Prospectus improves its SC coverage, and as I try to improve my SC efforts.

I find SC easier because a gun/rookie strag works better. Players grow and fall in price at a quicker rate meaning to make 200K with a rookie isn't that hard.

I like the idea of an even distribution of cash, although this year I see a trend of more cash being loaded into the forwards initially with guys like Kennelly, Ladson and Hunt being in a lot of peoples backline calculations.

There are definetly players more suited to DT than SC, Swan is a walk up start in my DT, has been for 3 years but doesn't get a look in my SC squad despite last season.

I think Dalziell is going to blitz DT this year, a ball magnet who will relish 12 games in the wide spaces of Subi next year.

Carrazzo and Didak are also pure DT choices for me. The rest of my squad can be argued for either format I think.

I nearly went with dalziel aswell but after looking at his games over the last two years (7 + 5) i just felt he was a bit to much of a risk, Although i do agree if he plays a full season and can get 12 games on Subi he will tear it up.
Otherwise not a bad team.

Ben.

Yes granted that last year he was injured but he will have a full preseason this year and apparently is tearing up the time trials at the Eagles. The year before, his 7 games were the last 7 games for the year when he debuted.
