Depending on what your uprade startegy is its not a bad side. For improvements both judd and petrie are out for the 1st 3 rounds potentially upgrade to them after round 6.

Not overly convinced with hille in the ruck possibly replace with j. white and grab an extra gun in the fwd line.

With cash in the bank not a bad 1st up start.

Mitchell Brown      B/F   BAC
Andrew Walker      B/F   BAC
Jesse W. Smith      B   BAC

These would be injury concerns in the back line. I'll be starting a stronger back line than that, hopefully with fewer injury concerns. These guys out makes it look rather weak to me.

Considering we are still 5 months out, this a pretty honest looking squad. As the preseason continues and the NAB cup arrives, more rookies and 1st year players will present some reasonable form for you to consider them in your squad, examples of this last year were Broughton, Anthony and Otten, who all showed good form prior to R1.

As consructive criticism, you backline does seem to lack a class edge. No one for their price looks like they will improve on existing form. 2nd year players can be risky, like Otten and for his price you may be better shopping for someone like Gram who only av 79 last year but showed in the GF that he could get back to 90+ next year. I personally think Hodge is a bargain and with more midfield time next year should easy av 105+ next year. I think Jesse Smith is a massive rick as well.

I really like your midfield, Dalziell, McVeigh and Palmer should all score well above their starting price. Dalziell however is more of a DT player in my opinion.

Rucks are good, I'm going with Sandi/ Hille as my combo and I think Warnock will be most peoples no 3 ruck next year.

I initially liked Goodes as a forward but I think as a rock solid lock you can't go past Roo. He is Mr. Consistent and the hunger to go one better next year will only see him score no less than 115 av next year. Whereas Goodes could drop off in a poorer side.

Overall, your stucture is pretty sound and I look forward to monitoring your refinements. Good luck.

Three who I would query are Morris in the backline, solid but doesn't score all that well.  McVeigh is injury prone and, with his temper, suspension prone as well.  I like McPharlin but have always worried about his consistency - have you considered Chris Mayne from the Dockers, I think he may be in for a good year now that he is over his injury.

Hi Roo Boy,
Very early days but would seriously reconsider your backs for a start. Morris,Brown,Walker,Smith I would change. Look at Josh Hunt, Rick Ladson, David Myers,Matthew Broadbent as possible alternatives. Judd gone for first 3 weeks, Dalziell a DT player,McVeigh suspended for week 1, Palmer a DT player. Plenty of other options in the mids.Franklin also suspended at the start of 2010, Goodes & Brown tend to start seasons slowly then build so would look at them as upgrade targets rather than starting locks.

If they can get themselves right then Jessie Smith and Andrew Walker have some upside to their value.  I'm not sure that Otten, Morris and Brown will increased greatly in value this year.

Mitch Clark was awesome 2nd half 09, but he might play more key position this year with Charman and Berger back which might hurt his numbers.

I know he's cheap, but I'm not convinced Rhys Palmer will be a SC (as opposed to DT) star

Your backline needs some work. McPharlin as your 4th best forward is a worry. I think you need one extra gun in the fwd line. I'd look at getting an extra rookie on the ground somewhere and use the spare cash on an upgrade or two. And definitely get rid of Mitch Brown unless you want 40 to 50 points each week. At $94k he was ok, but now you can forget about him
