now that the fun has started and people are talking about trading, do the byes come into consideration at all anymore ??

are you still trading for some in forwards that has  abye in rnd 12 etc,? or are you looking at the forward who scored big on

the weekend??

if byes mattered before then they still do now i would have thought

I'm going for league wins, so i'll be lokoing to spread things around, as through my leagues i haven't excatly gotten the teams i wished for. :(

Although with leagues, just gettting in the top 8 is enough. Then things get interesting.

Will there be league match ups on the bye rounds?

Unfortunately so...

what i'm getting at is, are people getting caught up in the emotion of players they have selected not performing? therefore

thinking, stuff the byes, i want my side to win and i'll worry about the byes when they come. an example is, some dt'ers

have lids, god and broughts and they are thinking of trading broughts for birch [ 3 premo def missing rnd 13 ]

For leagues I think the best thing to try and do before they start would be pick a round to sacrifice and then have 0 donuts for the other 2. I have given this a lot of thought, and copping donuts every bye round could mean 3 losses, whereas sacrificing 1 round will potentially only be 1 loss.

As an example, If i wanted to sacrifice round 11, I would pick the following structure:
DEF: 5 x r11, 2 x r12, 2 x r13
MID: 4 x R11, 2 x r12, 2 x r13
RUC: Dont matter
FWD:  5 x r11, 2 x r12, 2 x r13

It's not always going to be possible, but if you can build a solid team with the structure, it would be good for leagues. Obviously, If you are going for overall, it probably doesn't matter.

Yeah but that won't give you the best team possible, making you vulnerable every other round of the year.
I made my team around the byes and will trade around them as whoever copes with the byes the best will not only win all league games but also gain points in the overall standings.

im going for overall and i have worked out what type of team i want to have for the bye rounds. This means some restrictions on who i upgrade and downgrade too. Such as my first midfield upgrade will be too a round 13 mid so guys like Murhpy, Gibbs,Mitchell. So there are some small restrictions but i cant see picking up one of those guys being a bad move fro my team.

Another plan i have is to keep round 12 and 13 players a little longer than i normally would have and keep them to the byes and instead use round 11 players for downgrades and upgrades.

If you are considering the byes, then you should aim to have no more than two premiums missign from each line for each.

That doesn't mean you can't upgrade prior to the byes, you just need to trade in the right players. For instance, I've set up my team so that I have space for two premium defenders with the R12 bye and one defender or mid or forward premium with the R13 bye. Additional trades will only be downgrades. This will hopefully leave me with rookies or midpriced donuts and a big bank for upgrades after the byes.

Yeah it's not ideal, but it means 0 forced trades during those 3 weeks, as well as fielding a full team for 2/3. To give another example for r13.

If for premos, you had:
DEF: Goddard, Deledio, Birchall, SUckling
MID: Ablett, Murphy, Mitchell
FWD: Buddy, Martin, Robinson, Gray

Then you filled in with the rest, you still have a very respectable team. This is of course, provided they all do well come by time, but there is a good chance that they will.

yorgis

basically, you just really want to avoid having more than 2 players from the same bye in any line. most of the rookies will be

long gone bye then. hopefully by then some of the mpp rookies will be available, which will make life a liittle bit easier

henry

To be honest haven't given much thought to them. Apart from Gws, haven't got any more tha  2 players from a team so hopefully that will help me. As we start getting closer to them and i am lookinv to downgrade and upgrade then I will consider the  bjt now just looking at best players possible.
