RUCK DEPTH

With a loud chorus of hawk fans demanding S. Taylor be traded for consistent indiscretions - nearly 50 frees against and numerous 50m penalties. Who is there to replace him? Having a look at Hawthorn´s ruck depth Walshy could be thrown into the deep end but quite possibly be another year away unless injuries to renouf or campbell.

Looking at other clubs does not seem to be much depth. Take away the likes of cox sandilands clarke kreuzer hmac hille jolly and fraser. If those blokes got injured at their respective clubs there is not much depth to cover.

Ok nic nat j.white hampson wood etc have come on leaps and bounds but unlikely to have a huge match winning impact on the game. if we were to trade Taylor who would want him? Power in tandem with brogan?? :-\ It is with much regret and displeasure that we may hang onto him and hopefully its the kick up the arse he needs to put the team 1st.

Thoughts??

remember you might also be getting a key back, other then that you could take the easy way out by tanking, using the number 1 draft pick to get a backup ruck. ;) ;D :D

mmm.... like the idea of tanking for the number 1 pick only to pass it to freo  west coast or brizzy for sandi  cox or clark :P

I just read that robbie campbell is having complications with his knee. Rucks are in total disarray!! Now that really stretches our ruck stock.

With bail´s either being deisted or placed on the LTI and or robbie retiring prematurely we can elevate both walsh.  The exposure would be terrific for him and provides supporters an idea what sort of grunt he has. That would be exciting for the future ruck stocks.

The reliance on both Taylor and Renouf to take us to another flag. The ability to lift another notch take their games to another level. Can it be done?

Taylor´s 09 was terrible and folk are still screaming for his removal although a contract has been resigned. His 08 was great and will need to rediscover that form.

Renouf has also been good and will need to improve his strength and endurance then sustain it over the course. Possibly too much to ask but thats a challenge he will embrace.

With the impending draft is it possible for the hawks to look for a part time ruck man. In the mould of a q. lynch t. cloke a. goodes blokes of that ilk. Instead of seaby blake charman jolly?? will it be more worthwhile? how will it fit into the structure? are the club draft demands to great? (assuming our current picks have been committed).

Can the hawks afford to rest taylor and renouf against developing sides ie: rich? melb? p.a. ? for a ruck combination of walsh and lowden?

what are your thoughts?

Both Walsh and Lowden (200cm plus) both still developing players. I saw some VFL Box Hill and Walsh looked really good, though suffered that foot injury - you want to hope he be okay at the start of next season he would be handy if they wanted to take a punt and select him in the team.
