Here is my justification for the three midfield rookie strategy:

I have picked 10 forwards and backs, one ruck and 3 mids who i will not change throughout the year. People gambling on midpricers will eventually have to upgrade them by years end, especially if they have gone bad, but still sometimes even if they are doing well it still worth upgrading. Take Rorey Slone for example (since alot of people are jumping on him), perhaps for now he will be posting 100-110 scores but once every four weeks he scores a 75 and you suck it up. Your laughing at all those people who decided to bolster their team with rookies, but then halfway through the season, when i have 6 true premiums in my team vs your 5 (maby 4) + Rorey slone, who will be laughing then. You will then have to frantically look for a downgrade target (who at the end of the season will play maybe 1 every 3 games and be quite unreliable cover) and waste a trade upgrading to what u could have fixed at the start of the season.

You would have to take a cheep midpricer fwd or back (or even get another forward or back rookie) to cover the cash to get a fourth (or even fifth) mid

Also when the season reaches halfway through you will be looking for downgrade targets, yes there might be some in the forward line or in the backline, but history tells us that the midfield is rife with mid season downgrades. So while your looking to downgrade your five forward (and options may be limmited) rookies i will have an endless supply of mid season downgrades at my disposal.

Now if you want to talk about scores which rookies are likely to post up the best? The key position back or forwards? Not likely. I would be confident in saying that Midfield rookies put up the best scores (of the rookies), therefore wouldn't you want your team to be filled with midfield rookies, and not key position forwards and backs who post 40's each week.

I like the look of this a lot, making my own version of this atm. Seeing how it looks first.

i respect your idea, but somewhat challenge your thought process.. Unless you are only about winning your league, taking this option will have you well off the pace half way through. Your way, may in fact might be better for the end of the season how ever you will be chasing you're tail until the end of the year to be back to square one if that. Here are other concerns:

only going in with 3 premium midfields and 1 premium ruck is a massive risk as this is where the bulk of players averaging 100ppg+. Take forwards for instance, last season saw chapman and johnson average over 100ppg.

on average every team should be able to have the same amount of premiums therefor an equal amount of downgrade upgrades to get their team to capacity and end of season.

finally i believe midfielders are more predictable and easier to pick 100+ppg and less new players move into that category each year. where backs and forwards are so much more unpredictable.

all this is just my opinion, and i do respect a slightly out of the box thought process.
