thinking of getting Conca into the backline. looks like he will be part of the midfield, maybe resting/rotating of half back and at 299k he could be a good midpricer against the likes of lake hargreaves etc..

if hes playing mostly midfield he could easily be scoring in the 80+ range....

Not for me...I try and stay away from players priced around that range unless they are a proven past premium...Lake is the defender at that price I'd go for and if you've already got him then I'd suggest using the dollars elsewhere or get another rookie and upgrade someone else in your team.
Conca hasn't done anything yet and chances are that he'll be a mid priced player in Supercoach like the vast majority who average 50-80...the kind you don't want.

Not for me either. I honestly can't see the reason behind so many people jumping on Conca, did I miss something? Not sure if he will be playing a big role in the midfield, didn't the Tigers draft Morris and Ellis to allow Deledio and Newman to push into the middle? Plus they already have Cotchin, Foley, Tuck, Martin, Jackson & co in there. I'd like to see Conca have a big year, but unless someone can enlighten me I won't be picking him.

Mozza3

With him being suspended until round 1 it makes it even more risky to put him in your team. Without the Nab Cup dress rehearsal I'd steer clear.

He's been training with the midfield group. He's had a full preseason under his belt.
Hard call to not have him when you consider those 2 things but being suspended and not playing any NAB is tough.
Its a choice between Conca, Lake, Hargrave, Bower, Clarke and Howard at the moment. Choose wisely.

 ;)
There's one you left out  D Connors who can definitely play. If he's in for round one --- get on.

+1   Hit the nail on the head ;-)

my main reason for considering him (hes in my team atm) is cause he will spend most time in and around the midfield. this should equate to higher points scoring. its always good to have midfielders eligible in either your backs or fwds.

i would think lake and hargreaves would be riskier considering one has had massive injurieas and a year to forget, and the other again has had a terrible 1 (or 2) previous years. can they come back and stay on the park, let alone score well ??
bower ditto i suppose....

B4 injury both Lake and Hargrave were proven high scorers, Lake was forced to play injured by Eade so wasn't right all year, They'll both be back, Lake marking opposition kicks and Hargrave as the go-to man out of the backs, Conca's role hasn't really been established yet,
jfitty and enzedder summed it up perfectly ;-)

I'd pick Hargrave over lake at the moment and howard stands to be a very smart pick to the doggies are playing hawks style footy out of defence and howard is the replacement playmaker off the backine for gilbee (apparantly).

Still I have conca and hargrave for now, conca will play predominately in the midfield that is a fact plain and simple, at his price he may (longshot) become a 7th defender keeper, but at worst he should make $100k and not be ant worse than having picked a rook, I'm banking on him getting 80+ average and keeping him in D7 till the end

Nut, if one other than hargrave i already have puts his hand up conca will be out hargrave looks cemented in my def conca is just glued..

Want to know more about why the CONCA Hype, plenty on infor here on what the club and various news articles say about the 2010 #6 pick "midfielder"
