What do you guys think of this side? what needs improvement?

I think your structure is perfect mate.

BACKS: I'm not too sure on the injury prone Grimes plus the Dees have a terrible draw for the first 11 rounds of the season playing against every side that played finals last year! Perhaps the proven high SC scorer Lake would be a better option if he lines up for round 1?

MIDS: Great setup with the 3 guns and Barlow but Swan, Watson and Barlow share the same bye which will cause one extra donut come round 12. Maybe Murphy in for Watson?

RUCKS: Awesome, wouldn't change a thing.

FWDS: I really like the setup here. I'm a little bit worried about how Martin will go against the good sides, history shows that he does not score well. Tigers play all the finalists from last year in the first 10 rounds too so might be a better upgrade target.

Really great side though 9/10

I have to agree with all the comments above.

Best team i have seen yet. Great balance across the board.
Possible concerns over some clubs fixtures as mentioned above and i would include Freo in that bracket.

Very good team.

Really solid team, nice job. Remember to keep an eye on rookie players in the preseason and you should be set. The only player selection i'm not sure about is Gaff, it could pay off but i'm not a fan of picking mid priced players. It's also his second year so be careful of the 'Second year Blues'.

Yeah liked the first team, not sure about Gaff but could pay off like others players eg. Caddy, Stevens etc.
Watson could be more of a unique compared to Selwood, that's if he stays fit and as for Saad maybe you could go for someone like Pfeiffer?? MPP as well.

Thoughts? the main change was going from the 2 prem ruck combo to 1 prem 3 rookie...this gave me some cash to improve the mids and defence

Like this latest team very minimum risks.
Only minor concern ifs forward line with both Martin and Zaha expecting both to increase. and Riewoldt returning from injury.
