Build the backline first?

We all know teams change throughout the season, thats why a decent trade srategy is required, of course injuries can compromise even the greatest plans, but you really need to plan from the beginning!

Where will you build first?

I believe this year the backline of most long term successful supercoach sides will start a bit thin with a strategy to speculate and strengthen this area with prems/new prems.

Lids may be a different player this year with a GWS lure in his face, look at the performances of players in recent times who faced the same decision.. Im tempted to leave him out from my starting line up on this alone.

I'm not sure that I understand.
You should focus on all lines evenly. However, having said that, most points will be generated in the midfield. Maybe start there.

Not sure of your experience with SC but I will let you know my strategy.

I have selected a side (best 22) that I would like to go into the finals with. (includes a few contingency players for injuries etc,).  From this team I select 13/15 who will be keepers (This year looking at the byes as well so selecting no more than 2 players with same bye week).  I then fill my team with rookies or low priced prems.  Trades are then made throughout the season to achieve my best 22.

All being well I hope to use trades as follows:
Up to 6 trades to Round 10
6 Trades during bye Rounds
4/6 trades to round 19
6/8Trades available for finals.

Hope that helps.

I set the team i'd like to have going into finals. Then I pick my 13/14 prems at the start.

Then when it comes to trading during the season you make a judgement call on which rookie has topped out & which prem (you had in your ideal 22) has dropped in value & that's the one i snag. I don't usually care which possie it is. Always exceptions to any "rule" though.

Interesting way to look at it, as in, look for a specific number of players you want to keep, then go from there.. i counted 15 on my team, if you include J.Brown and Heppel as keepers.. havent really ever based my trade strategy around that before, but a good and obviously popular way to look at it!

For what its worth, i think in this manner:
-Choose 3 premiums which i believe will AVG over 100 on each line
-Choose two mid pricers in each line which i believe can have much better seasons (Fallen Prems, breakout years, avg 80-90 prev)
- Set and forget the ruck!

this year i moved away from that a little, but it held me well for the past 4 years. ive gone for an extra prem mid, to add more rookies to the mid, as well as only one mid ranger in jono brown for the fwd line.
