Which back and mid combo?

I've got 930k to spend on a defender and midfielder.
These seem to be the 4 best combos I can think of.
My midfield currently consists of G Ablett, D Swan, M Barlow, L Hayes, D Shiels, J McDonald, & T Couch.
Im aware getting someone like M Boyd would be best for my structure but I believe that he has reached his peak
whilst the other 3 premiums may still improve.

I don't like the idea of playing both Barlow and Hayes. I'd sacrifice one for either Pendles or Murphy, whichever one suits the byes.

i'd lose barlow, gain selwood and get a prem defender.

ATM I think that both Barlow and Hayes are too good value to pass up. Both are likely to average around the 100 mark.
If I trade one of them to Selwood and get in a premium defender, that would mean I can only afford another rookie into my mids.

Eg. Selwood (110 ppg), Barlow (100 ppg), Hayes (100 ppg), Hargrave (70-90 ppg) = 380-400 ppg
  or Selwood (110 ppg), Hayes (100 ppg), Scotland (105 ppg), Rookie (55-80 ppg)  = 370-395 ppg

Interesting... the scores turned out to be alot closer than I initially thought.
Guess the question is if Hargrave is better value than a mid rookie (Eg. Neale) + $173,600.

I think you can lock in Selwood for 120 and maybe pushing 130, that's how good he is.

i would go selwood and hargrave. defenders dont score well anyway take the risk in the defence not the mids.

I have barlow in DT but SC mids score far too high to risk mid priced or discounted players.

Boyd i would say is far from past his best he scored 97 DT points in 40 mins of NAB cup footy and i reckon it would have been a lot more SC because it was all effective.

BUT Selwood is cheaper due to his sub affected game last season making him the best pick up, murphy is another awesome SC choice.

i also wouldnt have barlow and hayes, if you can have 3 proven elites and one maybe that would be better. as i said if you have a mid giving you 80 in SC its a LOT less points than an elite is givng your opponent - huge risk
