Only 2nd year of DT for me.  Love to get some feedback (I think) from some of you experts out there.
Going a bit 'guns, oldies & rookies' here, sort of, & focused on the byes a lot.
Rookies will almost certainly change a bit or a lot.

TEAM NAME: Nodo Nuts (1) Rnd 11

MID: D. Swan, G. Ablett jnr, M. Barlow, L. Shuey, L. Hayes, W. Andreoli (A. Treloar, J. McDonald)

FWD: L. Franklin, D. Beams, N. Fyfe, M. Robinson, J. Porplyzia, D. Smith, D. Pfeiffer (C. Dell'Olio, J. Staley)

lol, i think pink is your colour! Ahhh, showerz 'n giggles. goodluck :)

Interesting ruck setup for mine, i would prob have one of Sandi or Cox in there, but that's just me.  I think Hmac will be a good second ruck option, at $273k if he can consistently scores 80+, you can make up those points elsewhere with the money saved.  Watch him in NAB and see how he goes.

BTW, im not an expert in any way, shape or form!

Your mids are a bit weak for my taste. I'd try to have either three elites and Barlow or four elites. Upgrade one or both of Barlow and Shuey if you can. Also have heard nothing about Andreoli. Probably won't play, there are better midfield rook options.

Nodo Nuts

LEV, thanks for the comments.

My grand plan with the rucks was to try and get Sandi in but I'm a bit scared to start with him in round 1.  If my gamble is right then I'd be hoping to be able to make a straight trade HMac to Sandi somewhere about rounds 6-8 if one goes up in value and the other down.

Pink will have to do then!

Nodo Nuts

stew42, much appreciated.

Shuey was to be my smokey, Barlow's the one we're all expecting miracles from and Swan/Ablett are the 'have-to haves'. Maybe I could upgrade Hayes at the expense of Robinson??? You're probably right - Barlow, Shuey, Hayes & McDonald are all gambles of some sort, maybe too much of a risk.

I don't know anything but about Treloar either, the NAB cup might change him and probably a few other rookies too. I wanted to keep one DPP in the mids somewhere - not much to choose from with a round 11 bye.

Back to researching....

Mr.Craig

The main issue I see is with your rookies. Both the Saints you have are rookie listed and as I understand it only one can be elevated. Dell'Olio is also rookie listed. I appreciate that your choices will change during the NAB but you don't have any cash to play with given that a couple of those guys are basement priced. I think you should downgrade Shuey or Porps and then you'll have the money to get the best rookies possible.

Nodo Nuts

Valuable input Mr.Craig thanks heaps.

I'm not totally fixed on Porps so He might be the first to get downgraded.

Cheers

Don't worry too much about the bye when choosing your rookies to start the season, some of them will be gone before the bye.
Choose the ones who will play most early.
Just choose downgrades/upgrades with the bye in mind, although I think it will be a nightmare!

Nodo Nuts

Yeah that makes a lot of sense.  I think after version number 137 I'm starting to get the idea about the rookies.  I guess the same might apply to some low and mid pricers too like McIntosh & Armstrong. They might be well and truly gone during the first 10 rounds.

Thx Bones, all very helpfull

Oops didn't mean to press post yet lol
Also maybe think about how many trades you will need to use to get the premiums you want later in the season.
If you think Barlow, Shuey and Hayes will be keepers you've done well but if not you could change one to a rookie and one to a premium now to save a trade or two later. Same could go for Armstrong or Porps.
Lots of different ways to go.

Nodo Nuts

I had planned on Barlow & Shuey being keepers and was hoping Hayes might turn into one.  But then again I thought that Sandi, Petrie and Adcock were keepers last year.  It's hard without the crystal ball..... Armstrong & Porps definitely weren't intended as keepers so your point about a rookie is a good one for sure.

little bit on tony armstrong in there. battling injury.

not a beams fan. i think chappy or goodes in that spot might be better.

maybe move docherty to the mids so that u can utilize DPP and get in Ellis from richmond because andreoli wont play

Nodo Nuts

Got rid of Armstrong, thanks for the link damoc!
With bits and pieces taken onboard from everyone's input the team starting to look a lot different.
Beams has gone, Selwood & Sidebottom are in.  Barlow's gone but I miss him already.  Not sold on Chapman.  Still trying to stay reasonably close to the 8/11/11 bye structure and keep a couple of DPP links even if it means a DPP ruck rook cops a zero.  Maybe that isn't smart-not sure yet.
I realise the rooks will still change plenty but not sure how comfortable I feel with so many on the field!!!
Current version looks like this.....

TEAM NAME: Nodo Nuts (1) Rnd 11
DEF: H. Scotland, B. Goddard, B. Deledio, D. Heppell, D. Nicholson, M. Clarke, B. Ellis (T. Mohr, T. Bugg)
MID: D. Swan, G. Ablett jnr, J. Selwood, L. Shuey, L. Hayes, S. Docherty (A. Treloar, J. McDonald)
RUC: M. Leuenberger, H. McIntosh (O. Stephenson, S. Rowe)
FWD: L. Franklin, N. Fyfe, M. Robinson, S. Sidebottom, D. Smith, D. Pfeiffer, A. Saad (C. Hampton, J. Hamling)
CASH LEFT: $14,700

damoc, thanks for the input too.
