Better the Devil we Know (or do we)

Reading thru the posts it amazes me that we are all discounting so many players with new coaches who, in the past, have in many cases nailed us after choosing them.
With so many new coaches around the place surely we have to rethink ruling the line through many of them.

Eg. Melbourne - Grimes, Silvia, Green. In the past they have been dissappointing with injury, indescretions and lack of form. but what will Neeld be able to get out of them. Will Silvia become a midfielder only. Could Green hit the backline and be the rebounding defender? Where will Watts play - will he start showing the potential we know he has. i am sure there are others in melbourne that might be shuffled ariound and become the hidden jewel we are looking for. Time will tell!

Adelaide - whi takes Phil Davis spot in the backs? Will Sanderson bring a Geelong high DT score game to the crows. Does this mean Dangerfield FINALLY (FFS) becomes a player that produces. Can Jacobs rise to another level? Vince and VB - will they be better value than Thompson and who else will start running through the mids and getting some numbers. We are ruling out the Porpoise. Will he find a new position (and some new luck). Where will Tippett play?

Fremantle - of course Lyon will have to tweak his game plan to suit Subi oval. Arguably the best coach in the AFL with arguably the best record at Subi oval (for an interstate side) with St Kilda winning more games than they lost there. Who will be the Sam Fisher of the Dockers. Rewolt? Well obviously Pav. But what about Jack Anthony? Will Sandi be the dominant force of past seasons or will he be sharing the during with Griffin and Clarke? Where does Duff and Broughton fit in? Will Suban be the Fisher? The SKilda mids always produced good numbers. Does that mean mssrs Barlow, Munday etc will do the same? All i am saying here is that we all seem to have rulled our Duff and Broughton in particular. Who know what Lyon has in mind.
I dont think we can pigeon hole any of them

Bulldogs - coached by the ex-Geelong master tactician. If he brings accountability and hardness to this group then there must be some bargains in there. Who replaces barry hall? Will Higgins play in the mids all season long? Word has it Gia is ripping up the track. Where will he sit? Where does Cooney play? Is Griffen the rebounding backman? Will Lake play forward? Where is the next injection of youth coming from and which ones will step up after being given an opportunity? I think the jury is out on where all these guys will play so we need to sit back and wait for NAB etc.

St Kilda - expect a ala-Collingwood revamp. So who fits where? Obviously none of them have the out and out class of a Swan or Pendles but there DT scores have got to rise. Arguably Hayes inclusion should be enough to increase Montagnas and Nick Dels scores. But there must be sopme others in the Saints squad who will rise also.

Even Collingwood - what will Buckley tweak? Do they all front up the same as last year, put the GF loss down to the fact that Geelong were lucky on the day. Personally, i hope so! From a DT perspective we'll know what we get. From a premiership view also the result will be the same or less. Obviously Neon leon's spot is up for grabs. Is Marty Clarke the guy who WILL get that spot? Or is there someone else in the wings that Bucks has his eye on? Krak being out for a while now (and we all wish him the best of luck and hope he returns soon) opens the door for whom?

We know what we are going to get from the likes of super premiums Selwood, Rockliffe, Murphy etc etc...all those teams that have established coaches and game plans. Even a game plan tweak is not going to effect Swan and Pendles. Cant really go wrong in the rucks but there are some questionmarks over how Sandi, Goldstein (with Hamish) and Jacobs and McEveoy to a lesser extent will be used. I think we know what we get with Buddy and probably Cloke. Chappy is be Chappy. But what of Green, Silvia, Gia etc. And some of the cheaper options.

All i am saying is dont discount any of the previously good DTers and look for the "reshuffled" ones in the NAB.

just my 2 cents worth.

Nice post man!

I think though, if Lyon was the best coach in the AFL, he would have put the foot down five minutes earlier in the 1st grannie aginast collingwood and won them the flag.

But what about Jack Anthony?

He will be the new Ryan Gamble  ;D

Good points, though.
