i have just started getting into the dt research for 2012 ... is anyone even remotely considerin this bloke ? better option than the porpus???? he looked to have good scoring potential just had bit of bad luck with injury? i don't recall what the injury towards year end was  either?
cheers for feedback

I was looking at him and if he out performs the porp in the Nab then he will be an option for me again. He was all the rave last pre season and he is still cheap enough.

Andrew

I'm considering him! If he was $30-40k cheaper he'd be a lock for me but at $217k it's tricky... if Saad doesn't look like he's worthwhile I might start with Callinan instead. You feel like Callinan could be the Knights of 2012 - start as your 6th forward, average 80 before being cashed in mid-season having made $100-150k.

But he needs to get in the Adelaide starting team first and some people have their doubts that he will...

eaglesman

yeh i havent heard much about him at all this season to be honest ... i would of thought he would of been a far better option dt wise than the porps ....

just went porps > goodes (have winderlich atm which could become callinan yet)

scotland > lake (watch over nab) and if lake fails downgrade coniglio  100k and use the cash to up lake but i duno

dt is back sooooo much tinkering to do haha

Andrew

Yes lots of tinkering to do and we can only speculate on Callinan until the NAB Cup, but I think you have made some good calls there.

Goodes has a start to the season which is just too tasty and when he's such a lock in the forwards and is so durable I think you can pick him with certainly. I have him locked in. Winderlich v Callinan is an interesting one, certainly not both. Winderlich just screams injury-prone for mine but then again hard not to say the same about Callinan or Lake after last season.

I don't like premium backs after how much they collapsed last season, so not going in with the most expensive is wise strategy in my book. Mind you, I've never picked Scotland in the past 4 years and of course should have. But there are plenty of mid-priced options you could start with then turn into Scotland post-bye. I've got Lake in my side currently also but he'll be one of the most watch players in the NAB Cup. Personally, I think if he's fit enough to play, he'll play full back and from there he reads/sets up the play too well not to get a lot of the ball out of defence.

Coniglio needs to show alot in the NAB Cup for me to pick him but of course if an outstanding talent. I'm not liking the midfield rookie selections this season, only McDonald, Koby Stevens, and Pfieffer locked in for me.

eaglesman

haha andrew ... i also have stevens and mcdonald locked in with a watch on wingard and pfeiffer in preseason, i am pretty much certain that coniglio wont be in my team unless he is just electric in the nab but i just have put that cash there to ensure i can pick up any rookie mid that jumps out at me ....

i currently have saad in my forwards as a starter and am hoping his nab form holds up, also have winderlich but i am doubting him also and think i should just go a rookie that shows a bit in the nab ....

so much tinkering to do haha

Artax

I'd take Rohan or Porpz over Callinan
