Just wondering what kind of average you would accept for your 6th mid by the time you finish your team. I know a fair few people will say "i dont want anyone in my mids averaging below 110", but to put things in perspective in 2011 there were 17 mids (excluding chappy and beams as you wouldn't play them in your midfield) who averaged 100+, 13 who averaged 105+ and only 7 who averaged 110+ so fielding 6 mids averaging over 110 is quite unlikely.

A lot depends when you manage to get the 6th midfielder if it's during the byes or just after i consider 100 ok  but if it's getting around round 17 you would want it to be higher

you've either got a rookie keeper, or you can't afford a full upgrade, otherwise all going well you are upgrading to a 6th premium therefore it will be one of the top 10 midfielders and 110+ is on the cards.

Yeah a top 10 mid. Probably a top 6 mid if you can predict who will finish in that possie. I am going a 5 gun midfield so my 6th mid will be Pendles, Jelwood, Boyd or Murphy/Gibbs. Barlow may need an upgrade but I'd be happy to have him as a 6th mid if he is averaging 110+

Yeah that's a good point. It depends what kind of player they are. Eg if you had a rookie or midpricer who averaged 100 it wouldn't really be worth upgrading them but when upgrading a rookie to a premium you would want 105+ generally.

i think my answer is incorrect, I have to agree with ele (as usual), it will all depend for me whether i keep Barlow or upgrade him, which will all depend on what Barlow is scoring, i think anything over 105 and it won't be worth the trade (unless all FWD and DEF are already upgraded to premiums - unlikely).

So my answer should be either 110+ OR whatever Barlow is scoring :)

basically, I'll put it this way.

If you're upgrading, then you should be aiming to upgrade to players averaging 110+

however, if you've started the season with lets say, a redden, a sub 110 average is acceptable- it isn't really worth a trade for an 8 point or so gain.

I would put the cut off for that at 105ish though.

so basically, 2 averages
a) upgrade targets- 110+
b) starting mid pricers- 105+

Im picking Barlow to start, so i will hopefully have my 6th mid from round 1. If he avg's 95+ i will keep him untill one of my very last upgrades. And then i will get in the guy who i think will avg the most to finish the year, hopefully getting that right will make up a few of the points i lost having Barlow so long as a 6th mid. That's my plan anyway. Trades and injuries will probably mean Barlow will stay in my team all year, but finger's crossed.
