Hi,

Will you guys all  be using Monty's team structure for the byes?:

Backs: two R11 byes, three/four R12 byes, four/three R13 byes
Mids: two R11 byes, three R12 byes, three R13 byes
Rucks: two R11 byes, one R12 bye, one R13 bye
Forwards: two R11 byes, four/three R12 byes, three/four R13 byes

Just interested in knowing if it's the best way to go.
Cheers.

Ringo

This structure works but does not need to be set up from Round 1.  You can trade out rookies to come up with the structure prior to Round 10.

I will be aiming for this by Round 10 with all players in R12 and R13 playing.
Team Structure  2/3/4 - 2/3/3 - 2/1/1 - 2/4/3 = 8/11/11 (in the format of R11/R12/R13)
Then Round 11 No trades unless required for Round 10 injuries but keep the structure.
Round 12 Three Trades From R12 players to R11 players
Round 13 Three Trades for Round 13 Players to Round 11 or Round 12 players.
It maybe you trade out and trade back but I will be looking at Rookies to upgrade or downgrade to finalise my teams ready for finals.

All being well you will only need 6 trades during the byes leaving 18 for the rest of the season.

FYI This is the team I experimented with to ensure structure works(set up as above) forecasting byes and doing phantom trades to ensure only need 6 trades:

DEF: B. Goddard, B. Deledio, G. Broughton, N. Malceski, B. Lake, B. Ellis, B. Smedts (S. Morris, S. Frost)
MID: G. Ablett jnr, M. Murphy, J. Selwood, M. Barlow, K. Jack, J. McDonald (L. Brown, D. Pfeiffer )
RUC: M. Leuenberger, B. McEvoy (J. Giles, O. Stephenson)
FWD: L. Franklin, N. Fyfe, D. Zaharakis, J. Brown, J. Mellington, A. Saad, D. Zorko (T. Stubbs, A. Hall)

Even liked this a s possible starting team with Brown and Pfeiiffer giving me mid DPP Links to backs and forwards as further flexibility.

I know everyone is concerned about the byes, but should we really base our whole team around them. With all the injuries and resting that will be done, should we instead try and create a team that we can alter as the byes get closer?

Talisman

I know this isn't really the thread for it, but just wondering - how confident about B. Lake are you Ringo? Can he come back after last years debacle? I've been considering him, but am really worried about what he will do...

Too hard to gauge from here at least until rd 9 when we know what cheapies will be starting to get games.

Injuries, H.Shaw - type brain fades & underperforming premiums (there are a lot of new coaches that may change certain players scoring potential) will start to shape everyones team also around then.

It would be insane to get any more than 3 premiums in a position that share a bye (excluding rucks), your just wasting trades otherwise, and we all know smart trading wins the game.

IMO a max of 3 premiums sharing a bye in lets say the backs leaves some room for movement WHEN the aforementioned takes place.

Ive read a thread on here claiming DPP are not valuable, I hope Im playing in their leagues...or you can bet those same coaches will be crying come finals time when they have no trades

Tailsman - Will be watching Lakes pre season to see how he is travelling.  Reason for picking him at the moment is with what he is capable of (2010 SC average 104.5) and if he gets any where near that his price of $287k too hard to ignore.

some of, you cant plan for round 11 in round 11 things happen Im just picking my best side and structuring the best for the byes I can throughout the rounds without comprimising my teams scoring ability.

I wouldnt worry too much about the byes at this point. Most of your rookies will be traded out by round 11 anyway.

I am just going to try and get a wide spread of premiums from each week. As I trade in players, I will also then start just getting a wide spread of players.

Well said, rooks and byes don't Matter as there will be upgrades and downgrades by them anyway. I'm certain there are two donuts we have to eat over the three byes so I'm structuring just my premiums, keepers to allow for that. The rooks I'll sort out as we go along, if I get it wrong I might have to eat an extra donut or two, at worst our worst rook for a round can score pretty low anyway so not a huge issue.

too much hassel,im just hoping for best in those rounds & picking the best team i can for round 1.Hoping to jag 2 out of 3 wins & wont trade unless its difference between winning & losing.Looking at big picture only but fingers crossed i come across some lemons in those 3 rounds

Torress

i'm in agreement with no more than 3 prems in a line who share the same bye week.
i'm finding it easy to be fairly content with the spread with my forwards, backs and rucks but not in the mids.

we got swan, pendles, jelwood and barlow in the same week

if barlow gets back to what he did, you can't really not pick the guy at 453k
i've locked in jelwood, but you must have swan or pendles right???

there will be donuts in these rounds, so many hypotheticals that could eventuate around that time. for example swan has a niggle- the week after next is their bye, team gives him the 2 weeks to fully recover.
i just don't want to not pick say jelwood for the fact i'll cop a donut round 12, i think i'd rather eat say one donut rather than compromise too much of my team.
i guess each SCer has to weigh all this up. i haven't really been concentrating on construcitng a team with emphasis on the bye rounds, just spreading the players with byes but i can't get a good spread within my mids as yet. i do not want to sideways trade come bye time either.
or well i guess - "fail to plan is to plan to fail"

Me too - Not worried yet. Will look closer to the byes IMO better to take the extra points each week than plan for byes in Round 1.

Im going the, "panic when round 10 comes round and half your team will be out the next week" approach   :)

Hopefully will be able to even out the players per bye in the round and 11 trades
