In the last quarter with about 5 mins to go Dee's had a momentum happening and a player hand passed to an umpire who was wearing the same colours as the Dee's. After he hand-balled to the umpire a Doggies player grabbed a loose ball get then ran and carried which resulted in a goal for the Doggies.

Another instance also occurred earlier in the game. What the hell are the AFL thinking? All pink maybe on the night but a teams colours? I feel this is uncalled for and cost the Dee's a win.

I agree. Some Melbourne players mistook the umpires for team mates. It just goes to show you, the umpies wear coloured uniforms for TV purposes, if they just wore the old, dull white strip it would never happen. Perhaps that is the answer. To be fair though, last night was a special occasion which Melbourne instigated.

For sure. I miss the days where umps wore white and the goal umpires didn't have to point straight (and they wore coats)
Essendon has never won a premiership while an ump was wearing a colour not a shade...

Yep! Ah well. Poor ol' Dees could be 5-2 with some luck.
